I can only dream of driving an RS4, even if it's the B5 model.... ultimate four door sleeper in my opinion, can't wait to see the new RS4 in person... it might even come up to Canada. Took a ride in the 996 on a small track, wow, what a ride.... grip like there's tomorrow, fast and smooth.
As soon as the weather warms up, which should be a couple months, I'll be trying out a few mounting ideas. Too bad there's no local camera store here that carries the stuff found on filmtools.com.
Just placed another oder with them a few minutes ago for some more accessories...
kj
and yes, the RS4 will come to the 'Great White North'......
One of our actors on Cold Case is from Toronto. I love him.. he's a cool guy and the only one I can talk Hockey with here in So Cal....
Very cool shots (nice car too). But I'd rather you not shown the suction cup holding
the mkII on the outside of the car--man, that gives me the hebe jeebees
I'll do some next weekend, unless I get off work early enough during the week to go take a few.....
I know it's a suction cup.
I was more scared putting them on my 'baby' than I was losing the camera.
No scratches to the paint and not a bad little mount....
Great pictures, great equiptment! I love the motion shots.
If you were worried about camera vibrations, ever though of not leaving your car engine off and having someone push it at 2-3mph and having several seconds exposure? That way you have a nice even streek as your background. These shots were taken with a tripod tied to 1 suction cup. Obviously, I was outside holding the camera :-D
Someone in the monthly assignment is doing this kind of thing. I think he uses an IS lens (probably 17-85 IS) to prevent the streaking light from appearing blurred.
And damn me if I'm going to hang a $6000 worth of equipment upside-down out of a speeding car!!

Just go spend $120 on a cable with an 80N3 connector, plug it into the side of the mkII and shoot !!!!!
Was going to ask you the same thing also... I ended up buying a knock off remote cable release from ebay ($27CDN) which had a mini headphone plug on it which allowed me to connect my homemade remote for the Digital Rebel, so I could make an extension as long as I want, though a wireless remote would be nicer.
As for buying stuff from states-side, I probably will one of these days if I can't find a supplier in Canada (have to budget for the S4 first!), though we get hammered on duty from stuff from the US.

How much ND did you use for those day shots ?
Or were they at dusk ?
kj
Not too sure what ND is.
They were shot in the middle of night using street ligths sometimes another car for lights. It's neat in the middle of the night so you can use the city lights for background streeks.

Kurt,
I was thinking of a way to use some remote fired flashes for my hockey photos. If I ever get around to it..do they have some light wieght kits that might allow for me to suction cup a flash/PW on the outside of the glass?

I want to set up a remote flash on the sidewalk and have a model hanging out the window looking into the camera at night and time it to expose along side the flash, mabe a 1-2 sec exposeue - am i making sense here?

Tell me about it, I'm heading to Fernie next week and now we're planning on heading to Powderking instead ... oh well, will have to wait and see what happens (rather go to Fernie than Powderking). We got rain right now here in TO.

Sherman,
the 3rd one down looks like daytime.
ND is Neutral Density.
They are filters to block light, but not color correct.
ND.3 is 1 stop
ND.6 is 2 stops
ND.9 is 3 stops.
to acheive a slower shutter during the daytime.
I was at 100asa and 1/10 was at f22.
I'll try some late at night or late afternoon with a Pola on (for 2 stops of ND)
I don't think they'd allow you to use remotes on the glass at a hockey game JC.
I think that'd be a bit scetchy.......

Damn you Kurt Jones..... damn you. =)
After seeing your setup, it motivated me to buy my rig this week. I should have it by next weekend to play with after a few remaining questions get answered. Already notifying clients and looking for a guinee pig to test on.
