Very cool rig, reminds me of the timing equipment they put on cars on hotlap tests. I'm guessing that's a S4 from the badge in the front grill. Maybe I should try something like that for my M3 at this upcoming season's autocross, where did you order the setup?
Okay you can stop mentioning your RS4 Just kidding!
I tried another angle from the inside.... mounting it off the rear right window from the inside... cranked the passenger seat all the way down so it wouldn't get in the way.

The hardest part was getting the aiming right along with the focus as the camera was right up against the glass.
With all these potholes I'm dodging on the roads and rough roads, there's quite a bit of vibration. A stripped down 20D would be nice But on a smooth road, one should get some pretty nice shots at speed.

I watched a video of it doing some drifts on the snow then up the ramp. That engine note is gorgeous... can't wait to until rs4.org puts on a better and longer video but I'll have to catch it when I get back on March 1st as I'm heading out tomorrow to BC for some snowboarding if my knee holds up. I did read your post on AW of you going to Barcelona to take the RS4 on the circuit there, can you pack me in your luggage? Haha. Man how did you get hooked up with this with AOA? If you can, find out whether this is coming to Canada or not as a lot of us are pretty displeased about this again as it's not confirmed or denied.
Sports photography content: gonna try and get some halfpipe action... no not me, but pictures of the competent riders when I'm out west.

Wow, that's a SWEET looking interior. Looks like they're trying to go retro Auto Union with that big box grill. Doesn't really float my boat. The rest of the exterior looks a little generic. But, that's because everyone else copied the rounded designs of the 5000, 90, 100. I mean, look at the new Ford 500. Looks just like a puffed up Passat. That steering wheel though... 6 speed transmission... carbon fiber accents... Audi sure knows how to design interiors. To me ergonomics are a much higher priority than looks. I'd love to test drive one. any offers?

Kurt, How does the ball head mount to the rig? Could you post a closeup of it? I got mine today and I knew ahead of time that it would mount different from yours but it did get my curousity going as to how yours worked.

Jason,
I don't mount my head directly to the suction cup.
I mount it to a bracket that slips onto a 5/8' rod.
Then I mount the rod, into a knuckle which attaches to a 1/4 20 spud, which attaches to the suction cup.
You can see it in the picture on page one, on the window.

Here's mine, thats why I am wondering. Mine is great for a three point mount but not so for a single cup. I'll need to find the bracket that you are talking about. Total cost was $710, ball head included with 12" and 24" rods. Now if the weather would just clear up so I can take it out and play.

Audi's ergonomics are top notch as well as looking great. I haven't found anything that is uncomfortable or feels wierd to do in my B5.
