I'm hopeful that the new 28/2.8 Color-Skopar will show reduced optical vignetting in comparison to the Ultron. Its shorter optical design by almost 13mm and slower aperture could potentially contribute to this improvement. At least, that's what I'm hoping for.

I have the same hope. I really liked the CV 40 2.8's vignetting I was getting on the SL2-S when shot wide open, so I hope this new 28's vignetting will be just as nice.

Update: Good news! I've thoroughly tested my Voigtlander 28/2.8 Color-Skopar copy and I'm pleased to report that it is perfectly aligned with the RF and also well centered. This means I won't be needing an additional copy, and I'll be starting the review soon.
During the testing, I compared it to the Voigtlander 28mm f/2 Ultron II and the Leica 28mm f/1.4 Summilux, specifically at infinity focus. After a brief examination of the image files, I can confidently say that the new Skopar lens is a high performer, showing comparable results to the other two lenses. The big question now is whether it can dethrone the Ultron. We'll find out soon enough!

Glad you got a testable sample Fred. If it as good or better than the Ultron I may switch for the size, and modern design and ergonomics.
My wish is that all my lenses looked and handled like my Summilux 35mm ASP, and had an integrated hood like my Summicron 50mm v5.

It's not better but offers similar performance. I actually like the Color-Skopar rendering a bit more.

This looks so dang good on the M body. I think this will also work well on the SL cameras as the lens plus adapter combo will just barely stick out past the end of the grip, so it will be like just carrying the body alone.

Looks great on the camera. It would really go better with my M11 than the ultron style wise.. Can you post a picture with the included hood mounted please?
The zone focusing marks are so much easier to read on the Color Skopar compared to the Ultron. I most often shoot 28mm with zone focus and at f/5.6 to f/11 when on the street. But it is also an interior shot lens in lower light. How much would I miss that extra stop of aperture?
