Type I and LTM: Silver: 78000 yen, Black Paint: 81000 yen
Type II: Silver and Black both: 85000 yen
Street prices are typically slightly cheaper than official.

Looks like the Type I will match the design of the 40/2.8 Heliar. Same 34mm filter, focuses to 70cm. The Type II is 39mm filter and focuses to 50cm.
I was wondering if Cosina would make a 28 similar to the 40, and here it is! That said, after my brief trial of the 40, if I was to go for this new 28, I'd get the Type II for the better ergonomics.
Curious to see what, if any, optical performance differences between this and the Ultron given there's very little price difference. The Ultron is currently listed for JPY 75,990 at Map.

I'm partial to lighter weight and closer focusing so Black Type II would definitely be my choice from these options. I've got quite a lot of adapted 28mm lenses but considering this seriously too

Yeah, it's 5 groups, 8 elements, only 106g and 23.5mm long (Type II) vs. 7g/10e, 230g and 36mm for the Ultron Type II. But the Ultron is by no means a large lens.
Most annoying thing about the Ultron v2 is green/cyan edge color shift on my M240 even with a profile selected. Curious how the 28/2.8 will compare, in this respect. Maybe I need an M10 or M11...

I recently got a used Voigtländer 28mm brightline finder on ebay (the plastic one, but it feels solid and the optics on the plastic ones tend to be in better condition because they're more recent). There's also the much cheaper TTartisan 28mm viewfinder but I've seen mixed reviews.

True, but smaller and lighter would be the things street shooters would be willing to pay for; there's not much point in having a fast lens if you'll mainly be using it at f8 and f11 anyway.

True but if this is the case and lens speed is not as significant, the TTArtisan 28/5.6 for about $320 is maybe the better option, too.

Fun news! So it looks like the type 1 is like their 40 2.8? If so, I would definitely go with the type 2 for the way better ergos. Changing the aperture on the T1 moves focus, so u need to set aperture first, then focus. But it is a v cool design.
Already have the Cron v2, the Ultron v2, the cv 28 3.5, TTA 28 5.6 so will skip this one.
Also the BrightinStar 28 pancake is meant to show up but I have a bad feeling as yesterday I was delivered a random iphone case from aliexpress which I never ordered….

The v2 version obviously is meant to compete against the Elmarit Asph 28 v2, as the Ultron does against the Summicron.
Difference being the v2 actually looks very nice, while the Ultron is well, uggers (even though it is optically great).

I really like the version 2 and agree it is meant to and likely does compete well against the latest Elmarit 28 Asph. I doubt I will get it myself as I am very happy with the Ultron, but it is nice to have options and this super small option looks great. If it performs as well as I expect it will be a great lens for a lot of people.

I think for the LTM folks this lens is exciting because it gives you the optical performance of the 28/2 Ultron M, but in LTM mount and an even smaller/lighter package. The good vintage LTM lenses have been climbing in price and many are not in great shape anymore, plus the modern Cosina lenses are typically more contrasty and of course have better coatings, all of which can be desirable for film shooters.

Yes, it looks like type I is just like 40/2.8 with similar infinity lock (based on product images along) and then the aperture ring would move along with the focus ring as well.
Sounds worrying about the BrightinStar delivery... Hope it still shows up!

As an owner of the 28 3.5 Color Skopar, I feel the current price is a complete bargain for anyone looking for one. If anything it should be much more. Especially if I decide to sell mine.
