The Japanese paid $1900 USD for One-Time North American Rights to this image. The stock agency made a 50% commission and I received a check for this image alone for $958 USD! That was the highest royalty I made on any one slide. Most slides made $50-$100 USD.
Those were the film days! In the film days there was no such thing as Royalty Free
We bought blocks of film from a NY camera house (such as B&H or Adorama). I shot only Kodachrome and Fujichrome or Velvia and bought as many rolls in the block that I could afford. Each roll of KR had a mailer with it that was used to send the exposed Kodachrome to Rochester for development. Fujichrome and Velvia could be processed locally.

Gulf Fritillary "puddling" on a Bobcat scat
Most butterflies survive on the *nectar* from flowers. Are there any nutrients other than sugar in nectar? I don't believe so (but maybe). Puddling on scat is common among butterfly species. I believe they are after nutrients such as sodium, potassium, etc.

No, you can use a third party photo hosting site if all that you want to do is to share images in threads. For example many of the images on this page are hosted on Flickr. There seem to be advantages to on-site hosting as I've not been able to get third-party hosted images to qualify for voting in the image competition threads. In spite of what the rules for the photo competitions actually say, I think you need to pay for local hosting for some of the site's features to be enabled, as third party sites do not appear to be supported for the competitions. But simply displaying an image is supported with third party hosting sites.

The following images where created in-camera using a 4x5 Sinar. No photoshop used, these were created back in the mid 90s when I was just getting started using PS. So at that time I did not have the skill to make such montage within PS. Doing something like this in PS back then was not easy by any means. The images were originally drum scanned but I have lost the original scans so I photographed the film sheets on a light table using my Z7II and macro lens.
