Summer of 1970 I attended the Bryar Trans Am in 1970. I was Private First Class, 19 years old and in possession of a spanking new black body Nikkormat. Bryar was my serious attempt to use it. Results were, uh, mixed. I shot this on Ektachrome. I had a 50/2 and a borrowed Soligor 300 (anyway, I think it was a 300). That's either George Folmer or Parnelli Jones in the orange car, followed by Jim Hall and Sam Posey in number 77.
Fast forward 51 years and I'm prowling the grounds of a Road America vintage car race and what do I discover but Posey's old ride. Restored to pristine condition and still racing. Oof, 51 years. I still can't get my head around that.

I am assuming your were at the Brian Redman event in July? I was there and don't remember Sam's car but I have been there a lot and it is all the blur.
There have been fields where a large contingent of legit TA cars would come in from CA, which was nice. Some of the cars running that class today appear to be cars with no provenance and are just more recently converted street cars. The best field at the Historics was back in 1996 when the 30 year reunion of Can Am was there. Great field.

Yeah, it was at the BRIC. We go just about every year. Many, if not most, of the cars are fakes, uh, tributes. That car behind the Posey Challenger is an example. It wears #15, but it isn't the Mustang Parnelli Jones drove in 1970. To give the owner credit, he makes it clear it isn't the real car. But it is built to 1970 specs, or as close as you can get these days.

Thanks! It was a cold winter morning and the trees along the lake were covered in thick hoar frost. When the sun starting warming things up, the frost started falling off the trees all around me. It was a very cool experience.
