Sometime Imaging edge will give you notification of prior firmware. It could be because it is a new install of imaging edge, or a new A1 gets registered with app, or if for another reason it thinks that you have not seen this message.

You made me look 😎 SAR and Imaging Edge mobile and desktop. So far in my region no such message...yet.
So...just a few days left....anyone think this will actually happen?
I see SAR has a new rumour that A7IV will get FW before end of month that may give focus stacking. If that is true I can't imagine they wouldn't add that to A1 as they are running the same chip.
I realize we can't buy cameras expecting FW and we have to be happy with the camera we bought at day one. FW updates are just a happy bonus if they happen. But I really do think Sony should throw A1 owners some features that have since come on much cheaper cameras like eye-af in video, fw updates via memory card, focus stacking, software controlled DMF etc. I don't expect Sony to give us A7RV features that depend on the new AI processor or any novel features like pre-capture...I only expect those in an A1II.
I'd just like to try 1.30 again as I'm under the impression I got fewer eyelash and eyebrow AF hits on it...

https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/app/transfer/en/devices/cameras.php
This page states that there's a 2.0 firmware coming:
'*17 You need to update the system software of the camera to Ver. 2.0 or later. Creators' App and the system software update (Ver.2.0) for ILCE-7M4 will be released at the end of February 2023 or later.'
A major version bump gives hope for some significant updates

It appears that’s referring to the A7IV though. No 17* in the A1 columns. ☹️

I am not really waiting for new functionality myself for the A1, although it would always be nice, but I ám hoping for a new v2 firmware for the A1, certainly now that I have the 600GM, because the Eye-AF seems really wonky at times running v1.31.
More so with the 600GM than with the 200-600G, which I no longer have, but that may be because I did the much advised factory reset after I got the 600GM, and since the reset and the switch from the 200-600 to the 600GM, the A1 has wonky Eye-AF, recognizing bird-eyes in human faces or tree trunks and going off in its own loop without even half-pressing the shutter button (which I have set to activate AF).
I am hoping the new firmware update will solve that, as for now, I tend to de-activate Eye AF when it gets too frantic.

I don't think it will happen this month, if ever. If an a1mkll is actually in the works, why would they cut into the profits to be made
from current a1 owners upgrading. I agree with others however, who think a flagship model should be kept up to date as much as possible.

I doubt we'll see an A1ii until the end of the year at the earliest, which means we have most of the year with the original A1. Sony also released v6.0 of the A9's firmware (adding eye-AF) right before the A9ii was released, so it's not like they don't have form when it comes to new firmware before model updates. In addition, Sony has a history of continuing to sell the old model camera/lens for a while even after the new one is released.
And then there's the issue that v1.31 increasingly looks like it broke eye AF judging by the avalanche of complaints I've read in many places over the past few months (apparently all but acknowledged by Sony) so that'll need to be fixed. This could also be why v2.0 might end up delayed if they have to go back in and rework some of the algorithms.
