Yessss

Been waiting for this update for a long while. Very curious to see the weight and rendering. My guess is we get a CV 75/1.5 mini-me.

Despite the f/1.5 max aperture, the Nokton 75/1.5 is one of the shortest Voigtlander 75mm lenses at 63mm length. I believe the Color-Heliar 75/2.5 was the most compact at 50mm length. Hopefully the new new Ultron 75/1.9 will break the size record.. ;-)

The 75/1.8 Heliar was the odd-ball at 74mm length! I enjoyed shooting with this lens but it's just too big for the M, especially with the hood.

Super small 75 in SC would be awesome. I love the 75 1.5, but it's such an odd design (IMO).

Again, nothing for the Sony E-mount. I think their agreement is over?

Yes—I was always put off by the size. And I want at least an F2 at this FL, but small. This will be the small fast 75mm lens that will give me a modern high IQ draw. The Samy 75mm didn’t do it for me, nor the m-options. Should be the compliment of my 73 Sonnetar.

g21 + 35 Lux Pre-ASPH + 73 Sonnetar — compact character kit

g21 + CV 35/2 ultron + 75/1.9 — modern, clean, high IQ kit.

Maybe CV is leaving e-mount cause Zeiss is coming back. Oh, nope, nah sadly.

Smaller, and with better ergonomics including a focus tab, as long as it is optically as good or better than my VM 75mm 1.5 may inspire me to swap out for this new lens.

Because Cosina is offering the single coated option, should we assume it's more like a character lens?

Maybe, but the Ultron label is normally used in recent years for modern high-end quality with a moderate fastish aperture, but not quite APO results, so on balance I'd say not.

Interesting. I always thought that Ultron is like Summicron. (so ~f/2 max aperture)

I believe you are correct Fred. As I understand it, like Leica's naming system the Voigtllander naming system is about lens speed not quality or other characteristics.

I think regardless of character versus clinical, offering single coated draws buyers that would have otherwise passed it by (like me). An Ultron SC will be pretty cool – sharp but lower contrast with more flare. But who knows – with CV, all bets are off until it shows up

Maybe of course, but I can’t think of any lens badged Ultron in recent years that is (optically) retro; can you? And of course the excellent for its free wifi time cv 1.7/35 is an Ultron, so it certainly can’t mean exactly f2 (I know you said approx f2)

https://digicame-info.com/2023/01/1znokton-50mm-f1-aspherical4.html

The original source of the rumor (digicame-info) lists 2 additional Z-mount lenses in addition to the 75/1.9 VM. The rumored Z-mount lenses are 15/4.5 Super Wide-Heliar and 50/1 Nokton. The article says that the Z-mount version of the 50/1 would be preceding E-mount version but I'm not sure if there was any actual information about E-mount version being in the pipeline as well.

It seems that digicame-info got the information from some Japanese forum where the original source was apparently Nokishita.

I don't think Cosina needs a permission from Sony to make more E-mount lenses at this point but they might think that the current lineup is already good enough and they have been focusing on X-mount and Z-mount instead of E-mount in the last 2 years, probably because there is less competition from other 3rd party vendors in those mounts so far.

Their 3 X-mount lenses have been pretty much their 3 best-selling lenses in Japan based on the kakaku.com rankings in the last 1-2 years so I think they'll keep putting focus on those, and for Z-mount APS-C they've released all the same lenses as in X-mount, and in Z-mount FF they've been mainly closing gaps to their Sony E-mount lineup so far, but with the rumor of 50/1 for Z they would be doing something unique for Z-mount FF for the first time that E-mount hasn't got at least yet.

For the 75mm, I have the CV 75/1.5 and the 75/2.5 and I recently got the MS-Optics 73/1.5 as well. Not sure if I'm going to add the 75/1.9 as well, it's kind of crowded there already and 75mm is not one my most commonly used FLs...

I can't think of any but Cosina likes to confuse us with all their lenses' nomenclature.
Most of their "Ultron" lenses are modern designs and at the same time part of Cosina's "Vintage Line" for their styling.

I wonder if the new 75/1.9 Ultron will join the Vintage Line.

The 28mm Ultron is so good. Hopefully this 75mm will follow. I just love the rendering.
