One thing that I am always interested in is who influences us as photographers. And in this case which photographers are our biggest influences when it comes to the street. And for me it's not to copy but who I do admire and have made me a better photogrpaher for knowing their work. The key is taking a little of this, a dash of that, take it all in and make it ones own.
If anyone is interested for me the big 3 would be:
Henri Cartier-Bresson for the moment
Robert Frank for The Americans
Winogrand for being so prolific
How about you?

I find photographic inspiration in random places and genres that I try to incorporate into my recently developed interest in city and street shooting.
A few favorites:
Nick Brandt - for the social commentary and humanity he captures in the animals and people of Africa
Eric Kim - for his attitude and enthusiasm
lensculture.com - for the wide variety they showcase
Random people on Flickr that I run across
And quite a few people here on FM
Heron
My inspiration comes from just feeling the place and trying to capture what I feel. When I get to a new place ( I usually stay at least 4 days, more quite often ) I will spend the first day out without a camera just to see what is going on, getting the vibe of the place, visualizing the story I want to tell. It's after I have a good feel that I will bring out my camera and try capture that story I visualized.
Each place is different requiring a different story and approach.

My initial question was about other photographers that have influenced us. That can be and usually is different from inspiration. As for inspiration reality and the magic of the moment is usually my inspiration. Line, form, motion, tone, shape and how some or all of those things come together to make something unique and that i find interesting that can sometimes only happen in fractions of seconds; the quest to capture those are my inspiration. Seeing in a moment when all the elements come together visually and then testing the visual and technically skills to capture that is what keeps me going out. Living in a big city is a never ending wealth of visual inspiration.

A few from the Kumb Mela in India that I attended in 2019. Amazing gathering of people ( estimates up to 200 million people over a 40 day period ). I stayed just outside the grounds ( maybe 10km ) in a tent city and walked in / out everyday. The amount of humanity at the gathering was staggering...really makes places like New York, Chicago or LA seem like villages.
