Dan, I don't think so judging from his friends. Yakuza have body tattoos, often full body tattoos, and don't show their tattoos off in public. For one thing, they might show gang affiliation and arouse the police or other gangs. Many Japanese, from the young even, simulate the Yakuza in their dress, hair style, etc.
Tattooed folks are often barred from public baths, Yakuza or not. Most casual gaijins like tourists never see them but if you have lived there you understand who is who. There is one festival in Tokyo, the Sanja Matsui, where Yakuza bare their full body tattoos and even party in public before the event. I will have to show some images from it....Show more →
Thanks for the clarification Charlie. My comment was more a funny one than a reality. I know some about the Yakuza from my job way back when.
YES PLEASE show some from that festival!
Dan
Interestingly, one of the finalists is Michal Cala who submitted B&W work made on film from the 1970s & 80s. The juxtaposition between that and the rest, which seems to have been done recently, is revealing of how styles change.

The second image is very nice. It appears there was no objection to having a tripod on the floor. Never been to 'Vegas but it does beckon.
Well done.
Thank you! Actually they do object to tripods. That was a hand held shot. In fact all our shots that night were hand held. I did rest the camera on fences or whatever I could in some areas.
Last Oh No!!!!!!
The traditional "ao dai" dress for women I thought was one of the most beautiful "gowns" ever! The women were beautiful!
So goes the female dress of most Asian women.
Very classy, very elegant and with the long flowing hair of the women, it presented a most excellent image of femininity!
Love these "Pw"!
