The last 2 nights I co-led a workshop at the local Botanical Gardens. Each year Brookgreen Gardens has what they call Nights of a Thousand Candles which runs from day after Thanksgiving until January 1st. We do a photography workshop prior to opening night which is always fun! I don't get to take many photos since I'm helping others but try and grab one or two when I can! We had 20 people each night, it sells out right away each year!

Long absence from posting due to moving house and getting new house build sorted, landscaping issues and so much rain. Only used a camera for the first time in over 2 months on the weekend. Anyhow, these are more shots from the same day as my previous superb fairy wren images. I was stoked to see the variegated fairy wren for the first time at my favourite spot as well as silver eyes as well. Had to get off the beaten track into the scrub to find these little guys and it was hard work. Still got a few really nice keepers.

I had the honor of getting a special invitation to take some photos tonight at Brookgreen Gardens of more of the lights but this time no clients to help! Only posting one now but will be posting some more on Thanksgiving since the Nights of a Thousand Candles officially opens the day after Thanksgiving.
I got to take my time and play a bit so had my wife Louise sit on the bench while I took this long exposure. I think it came out nice!!

On my very first outing with brand new Z9 back in March (IIRC), a grain of sand entered behind a button and rendered the camera inoperable. I found it was easily fixed by running a paper edge around the button recess but not before throwing my toys and venting on this forum. I thought it only fair to post a sequel to this episode and let it be known that this indeed was a freak grain of sand, cunningly shaped to fit a Z9 FN1 button recess. Despite months of trying (groveling about in sand, mudflats and salt water) I have been unable to replicate the problem. This camera (and lens) have good environmental protection.
