These look great. Just wondering, how much of a crop is the swallow and is this image part of a sequence? If so what was the rest of the sequence like, this one sure looks sharp?
The one where it's collecting the nesting material? Big crop, probably 3/4 of the frame cropped out. Part of the sequence - I think I took 5-6 frames in that one, picked the one where I liked the wing position most. I still have trouble framing the swallows, they move fast & it's not easy at 500mm where the hardest part is keeping them in the viewfinder.

Have company but he had a conference call this morning so I got a chance to sneak out to the back yard before my wife and dog came out to scare away the birds!
Brown-headed Nuthatch
Coopers Hawk I think, he slowed things down for sure!

He's just running full pace to say "Hello". I had fired probably 10 shots in that short 15fps burst and every single one was in focus. Sometimes it's hard to pick the best frame because all of them look good. Taught myself to cull without mercy - keep one, delete the rest.

Like your shot of Bruce coming towards you! The photo of the Cockatoo I have just posted above was from a sequence of 17 shots as it came towards me from across a large pond, all in focus.

I came back earlier this week from Kruger and it was the maiden trip of the Z9. The camera was paired with my AF-S 500mm f/4 E FL lens with the FTZ 2 marrying the 2.
The Z9 did not disappoint, here a juvenile bateleur (eagle):

I've been spending some time with a Bald Eagle the last few weeks and he's been pretty tolerant of me. He chills right off the salt marshes either on a sign or just in the grass/edge of the water. Most of these are from 50 feet to maybe as close as 20 feet. I stay about 50 feet back and if comes to me then so be it. I won't pressure him.
Landed 20 feet in front of me on the grass
After sitting down this guy walked over towards me (30 feet)
