You can adjust monitor and viewfinder brightness and color balance. You also have lots of customization with regards to what is shown and how they behave.
Personally I use my Z9 much like a DSLR, so the rear screen is always off unless I manually turn it on to review an image or whatever, and the viewfinder is only active if my eye is present.

I got to spend a couple hours with about 15 Wood Ducks. They were curious but any twitching and they would swim away and take about 10-15 min to get curious again.
Some portraits as well.
Loving all your fox pics! Especially with the kits. I assume it's wild? But seems to allow you fairly close access? We’ve had a fox in our backyard a few times but so skittish, can’t even get the camera out before it’s gone.
Great shot... I love photographing fox kits. It looks like you've found a great little spot where they are out and about
This photo is lovely for the dappled light behind the kit.

I don't have much to share, as spring has been wet, cold, and very late in Minnesota.
The migration has stopped south of us, and most wildlife continues to hunker down in the woods. In fact, the nearby nesting cranes have abandoned a once reliable site due to high water.
All I have is a goose landscape and a tighter portrait of last week's albino deer. I hoping to do a bit more work this weekend... if the winds die down and the sun reappears.
regards,
bruce
I was told that Nikon was going to add more birds to its library of subject recognition but apparently this is not the firmware but Nikon did tweak AF more.
This was shot with programmable C1 AF mode. In the past, Z9 would focus on the body of spotted owlet probably 30-40% of the time then on the face, eye or rarely beak the rest of the time.
This time, it focuses either on the face or eye only. No body or beak that I could see. If it does not rain tomorrow, hopefully I can test out some bif.

Max,
I think that this has been one of the ugliest winter and spring that I have experienced during my 32 years in Minnesota... a stark contrast from the last two years.

Got the 120hz EVF option running from the firmware update and took the Z9 out to Shawnee Forest in Ohio yesterday. To me it is subtly smoother when viewing, and adds to the overall feeling of naturalness on this viewfinder. I have always liked OVF, but at this point it could be very hard to return.

Two from this morning...
First time every beaver photo was in focus... the AF on the Z9 is so much better than what I experienced with the D500 and D850.
While I'm still struggling to figure out how I want to customize my Fn buttons,... I'm still amazed by how responsive the camera + 500PF are.

bruce
