Just a get capture of the Kite on the first and the lighting really puts it over the top!
Capture #2: I can't remember seeing a photo of a bird where they had their wings wrapped so tightly around their body while rotating in flight. Now that's neat!
I was walking around wiht Z9 and 50/1.2s for half an afternoon. Nothing much to show
except I am very happy with hilight recovery. All the pictures were shot with HE*, both pictures have strong mid afternoon sun in the back.
As a side note, the train picture, I had human eye detection on in auto area mode as I was taking pictures of a friend. Eye detection actually focus on the round light on top of the train. Basically it detect pretty much anything that is round, I guess.

Don't you know that it is officially now winter in Thailand so 33C mid afternoon temperature is quite cool
or at least cooler than 37-40C anyhow At leat now Bangkok is freezing with 22C temp in the morning.
Pretty much anything after Z9 and 600/4e FL is relatively light. I have been carrying GFX100 around town with its behemoth
lenses so Z9 is not too bad but I would still prefer Z7 ii with 50/1.2s if it is an all day event, I think.
Oh, it is also technically dry season so humidity is only 77% now. My skin is drying up : )

A few recent favorites of the bird kind. I am away from my home pc so my editing is bit off with my small laptop. Loving the Z9! Editing/sorting 20 FPS is crazy....I cant image 30 FPS.

One that would be difficult to get with a DSLR.....at least for me. This was 3D/ Animal detection. The eyes on some birds are not as easily detected. Hopefully firmware updates will improve the eye detection on many more birds. It worked here well even though the light was relatively low to use the necessary high shutter speeds....and this was a heavy crop.

Just tried the 600VR (G) on the Z9 in the back yard, wow! Worked awesome but not a lot of birds today! Have to leave town for a week so wanted to at least try it!

It's hard to beat the bokeh of the fast primes. Of course with everything there are advantages and a disadvantages.
Every good toolbox should have the tools that will accomplish the desired results. I equate my 500PF to the 3/8" ratchet and my 600VR to the 1/2" ratchet. The 3/8" ratchet wrench, it's light, fast and will get most jobs done. But there are times when you need to pull out the old 1/2" large, heavy ratchet wrench to accomplish the task at hand. So I am going to keep both in my toolbox.

Couldn't have said it better! Love the 600vr but the 500pf gets me more keepers because it is more maneuverable.

Not a swallow but there is a short window in getting these in the frame.....especially banking. Probably my favorite Z9 shot so far. This is the kind of image that I envisioned the Z9 helping me get. Still trying different AF settings and can not say I have a favorite yet. This was with Auto/Animal.
