One nice feature of using the back screen is the ability to touch the screen to place the focus point. Optionally, this touch can also release the "shutter". Handy on a tripod.

I wanted to test FW3.01 in advance of an agility event this coming weekend, so I sat in at a canine frisbee league on Saturday. From what I can tell, the new FW works very well. I had only one brief series that locked in on a spectator rather than the dog, which was a tiny fraction of what I shot.
I used WA Large and WA Custom (set to to max size) most of the time and had Subject Detection enabled the whole time.
One thing I noticed was that I didn't have much (hardly any) trouble with low-contrast dogs. Anyone that's shot dogs will understand the some are harder to get focus lock than others, but I didn't have any issues with any of the dogs, regardless of color / contrast. Perhaps is was just the grass was all dead making the "any" dog (or object) appear as contrast to the grass.

Got a 2nd-hand 600 F4 FL Lens at the cost of US$7000 (mint condition) and quite impressed.
A bit heavy and hard to hand-hold but it's not a problem consiering the image quality and price

i concur. i have been using the the Sony dual reader since CFeB came out. i do have 2. one for remote one for in house use.
most likely be the middle of February XQD will be no longer in my mix. a friend has a D4 and my last 4 64GB cards will go to him. ah, the end of a long fruitful relationship.

i do have a Delkin CFeB reader too.
This is good too.
Because I know how meticulous you are about these things.

Thank you. I will look into the SanDisk cards and reader too.
if you are looking to get a Z9 one must be a bit more concerned about the cards to use if you are looking for optimum speed performance and consistent throughput.

For me, this is *one* of the Z9's most exciting features. Enough people here who's opinions I value, have assured me that the Z9's articulating screen is fully functional.
You are right. I do a lot of searching too using my right angle finder on a D850. Been practicing with slowly raising the camera on the same vertical line with the subject.
Then there's glare. In non-winter months I wear a wide-brimmed hat and hoping it will help eliminate the sky-glare.

I do this loads. It's so useful and it works very well, though it is harder to find the target, especially with a 600mm F4 and TC14.

C/2022 E3 is starting to be visible (still not to the naked eye).
Was a good excuse to play with Starlight View on the Z9 to see if I could find it on the LCD, and did, with ease. Such a neat feature, but not a great photo
