Can anyone post a reference to the weight of the D850 *with battery/battery grip.*?
I searched the web and cannot find it. No, I could not find it in Wiki either
Just curious how the D850 *with the loaded battery grip* compares to the Z9 weight.
The Z9 takes flack about its weight. But it's a matter of taste/preference.
For years, I have been shooting the D850 (with battery grip attached) exclusively.
Just wondering how they compare. Thanks ahead.
I did weigh the D850 battery grip and battery a long time back and I have tried to find threads regarding the weight as I didn't record the weights anywhere other than what I had written on a forum. I posted this over at DPR last year and the weights seem to be around what I remember what I had recorded at the time:
The D850 is 915gms without battery or card.
I am sure the MB-D18 grip + EN-EL18 battery weighs in at 465gms from memory.
Total D850 + grip + Battery = 1380gms
If you add the EN-EL15 battery in the body of the D850 that adds a further 85gms.
The Z9 weighs in at 1160gms sans battery and cards
Z9 + Battery and cards = 1340gms.
So, the D850 + grip + Battery = 1380gms which is 40gms heavier than the Z9 @ 1340gms. However, if you also put the EN-EL15 in the D850 body, then there is another 85gms making the difference 125gms. I generally had the EN-EL15 in the D850 body when using the grip as it just meant less time and hassle removing/installing the EN-EL15 all the time when I *sometimes* put the grip on the D850. In this configuration, I always found the D850 to feel very heavy, yet the Z9 I find to not feel heavy but the difference was only 125gms. I rarely used the grip as it only gave 2 fps more - 9fps over 7 fps, which just didn't justify the weight addition in many circumstances, IMO. Now I have the Z9, 20 fps makes all the difference.

Turns out that this is what I wanted. I never detach my D850's battery grip and my D850 body always has a battery in it too. So, the Z9 will be what I am familiar with.

I've had the Z9 nearly a year. It arrived on Dec 27, 2021 and soon became my favorite camera, forcing my Z6 II into backup status. I traveled extensively throughout 2022 and enjoyed the results this amazing camera produced.

Blech... I lost the virtual horizon level in the rear screen today somehow. But it's still in the viewfinder (side note: after having used the Z9 for a while, going back to OVF feels like my eyes have been gouged out... alright, maybe that's pushing it, but you get the idea). I really need to read the manual after all, because I feel like the proverbial monkey with a grenade at times.

Hit the disp/info button till you get your preferred screen back
There are distinct settings for what you see for both the EVF and LCD, took me a minute to figure those settings out, no super intuitive.

I had an opportunity to photograph an agility competition that included Frisbee a couple weeks ago.
The Frisbee component made it a whole lot more exciting. The intensity and follow-through of the dog(s) was incredible and seeing it thru the lens is far better than the naked eye.
Sorry - image heavy...
