Is this something you’d like to photograph, or is it just an image that shows off bokeh?
I took the lens out to take some pictures at 150mm. I'm still not happy at 2.8 but will be using 135GM for that kind of situations.
But the fact this lens performs at primes level at 35@2 and 150@4/5.6 is remarkable. My copy shows significant dip in contrast at [email protected].

If you crop, you'd get a better composition. I put a full sized image, resolution allows for cropping. But I'm not in it for great photos

Realized there was a demonstration just in front of my porch. So I went back upstairs to try my new 35-150 and I found out that it works very well for this king of situations. Autofocus performed very strong and overall images came out nice. Here is just some random SOOC of people protesting with comfort. https://i.ibb.co/XJJsg0N/DSC06307.jpg

Then I went down the island to try it on San Gennaro feast but it did not work well for me there - the lens is too huge for tight environments. It was very crowded there. https://i.ibb.co/jgRhm8Q/DSC06344.jpg

This is an image thread after all, so maybe post some comparison pictures to the primes .
I don't think I compared the Tamron to 135GM but I might give it a try. I'd expect the GM to be better in the corners, but then it's a stopped-down prime vs zoom so what else would you expect...
I find that the long-end of the Tamron is weaker than the wider focal lengths. When shooting individuals or pairs, I find it harder to achieve the "pop/wow factor" achieved vis a vis shallow DOF/high contrast primes.

Yes, at 150/2.8 it won't provide as much blur as 135/1.8 or even 85/1.4...
Having said, I don't find the sharpness/contrast/blur limiting on the long end. Sure, 200/2.8 would be nicer, but then I wouldn't have 35/2 on the wide end .

Sometimes I get the impression that people think you can take a shot of anything with a good lens and you will get a pic with "wow" factor, and they then get disappointed when they find this is not true and blame the lens. It's really not the tools.

Postprocessing can make a difference. One can reduce contrast in the background and increase microcontrast in the subject. There are different ways how this can be achieved. For example, for the latter correction, Topaz Photo AI is very good at recognizing subjects and faces. It can sharpen the body and refine the faces. To reduce contrast in the background, it usually works to reduce contrast in midtones. One can also use masks.

I just received this lens. Man, it's big! I read about the size but you won't know until you hold it in your hand. But for what i will be using it for (a few events, wedding, engagement), it will save me from lugging the 24-70 GM II and the 70-200 GM II, it's smaller/lighter than the 24-70+70-200, and I won't have to have one camera with the 24-70 and the other camera with the 70-200.

Has anyone already updated firmware to version 3? I've done it using Mac utility but have not got a chance to test.
Changes:
1.Improved AF tracking performance when shooting moving objects
2.Compatible with AF Assist function during video recording
* Update can be done with "Tamron Lens Utility".
