I'm wondering if you possess an invisibility cloak? How did you manage to come this close?
It was luck more than anything. First, this osprey was about to have breakfast and might have been hoping that I would go away. Second, there was a perceptible heat haze (the place is a small island in the Caribbean see, where it gets hot and humid in mid-April). Thus, if I didn't get close, I would have most likely ended up with soft pictures. I took my 200-600 to the same place two days after shooting with the Tamron, and was quite frustrated with the results. In some situations, the ability to get close is more important than having a long telephoto lens.

Man those shots are all so vibrant and dead on with AF.. i can't wait to get my hands on my new camera tmrw and get either this or the Samyang. Such amazing caps.
There was a CPL filter on the lens. This made the sky look deeper blue. Another point is that this place has white sand - like chalk. This gives the vibrant color to water.

Thank you for explaining how you got the shot! Truly are very beautiful captures.
Btw sorry for not quoting you. I'm not allowed to quote yet.
No problem at all! I don't think there is an expectation that we must quote each other every time.
This forum is mostly informal and friendly, in my experience.
I wanted to add that I have mixed feelings about my use of the CPL filter.
I like it because of the removed reflections on water surfaces and the added transparency.
I am not sure I like so much the deep blue of the sky. At maximum, the effect is too strong to my taste.
Furthermore, on wide-angle lenses (even at 35 mm, as you can see above) the effect is uneven: one side or corner may look darker and this might require corrections.

What a beautiful series! The beachy theme and the colorful birds for a great scene!
Picture #4 could be an award winner in my book!
Thank you! I am glad you like the results. Obviously, this lens is not meant to be used on birds. There are way better pictures of swallows that can be found in other threads, taken with the right telephoto lenses.
I was pleasantly surprised that Tamron 35-150 could get these swallows in focus. These birds are so fast that the time available to get them in the frame is like a split second. Everything happens incredibly fast.
