Wow, this thread has been dead for a year...
I just got this lens today. Just messing around with it, I love the look of the bokeh. Here's a couple test images to show the bokeh. Love the outlined balls.

Oops, didn't see that one, thought I'd seen that thread but then I saw this one and thought it was weird that nobody posted samples in over a year...lol...Thanks Fred!

I have been watching the b/s here, I don't see this lens come up very often.
The lens sells for 79100 JPY at Map Camera, which is just over $600 US. You could use the Buyee proxy buying service that pops up on their site to have it shipped to the US. I have yet to try this, but am very tempted.

Thanks Ron and Matt—good suggestions. I have a bad taste in my mouth from Buyee as they cancelled my CV 35/1.5 for no reason other than it was new I guess? Anyway, I’ll get my hands on a copy at some point.

Maybe try again and get a better idea of whether it was just because the 35/1.5 was in pre-order status. You could also buy one from their used inventory, which shouldn't have shipping restrictions, if indeed Cosina is restricting Map from shipping outside Japan.
Fred recently bought some filters via Buyee and said he had a smooth transaction.

Yes, Buyee worked twice for me. However, you want a new CV 50/1.5 Heliar, it's on sale right now for $699 with free shipping (cameraquest) With Buyee you still have to pay for shipping.

Thanks for the Map Camera eBay link, but for some reason it is listed as 'does not ship to Canada', even though Canada is not in the lengthy list of shipping exceptions...
After changing my shipping destination to USA, it appears a whole swath of categories in Map Camera's eBay shop are geofenced and won't ship to Canada... Pretty much all I saw previously with Canada shipping were Olympus, Sigma and Tamron options.
In any case, it's not urgent and the Heliar isn't at the top of my list.
Has anyone been able to compare it to the Voigtlander 50 f1 ?
Thank you !
The CV 50/1 Nokton has a modern rendering style with minimal outlining on specular highlights. When it comes to resolution and contrast, it outperforms the 50/1.5 Heliar by a significant margin, particularly for subjects focused at mid and long distances. These lenses offer distinct looks, sharing only the focal length in common. It's worth noting that the Nokton shows more pronounced outwards field curvature.
