That was rather funny and pretty sneaky of Nikon
But what is the official Canon and Sony color? Who came in 2nd ?
The only colors I'd associate with Canon are maybe Red and White or Red and Black.
Sony maybe the orange that they use on their lens mount, supertele rings and GM badges.
So maybe that is Sony to the winner's left (our right) and Canon one more to the left. I don't know who Pink is

So Nikon is first, Canon is second (red/white) and Sony (red/orange) is fourth behind the mysterious pink camera.
Black (Olympus? ) is last? May be pink is Fuji or Panasonic?
Hmmmm.. any subliminal message regarding trhe states of camera business

I'd associate green with Fuji for their use of Green ring on the big glass (ie 200/2). So I guess Nikon feels Fuji isn't even in the game

I see people are getting a little worked up already about the Fro. I haven't watched that linked video, and I won't. I don't need confirmation that the teaser was done in post production, they always are, and nothing is that sticky in real life.
The only videos I watch from the Fro are his Previews and his Real World Reviews. No one else on YT does a better job of giving side by side comparisons, captured via EVF recordings to actually demonstrate how the AF systems are working. And the Fro usually takes at least 1 month of having the camera to put out his Real World Reviews so they are not just clickbait T&C crap. But for those that don't like him or his content you don't watch it, you scroll by it when it shows up on FM and you can spend your time watching Nikon employees like Ricci tell us the Z9 is the best thing ever even though he's never touched an R5 or A1 etc.
Oh man, tomorrow is going to be a gong show on here....I just bought a new popcorn maker to get ready for it. ...Show more →
I really don't have any issues to understand Nikon came out simulating focus box, it perfectly makes sense.
But, I can't take it so easy, Nikon released that information to him, then he rushed to create a video before camera is even announced, based on that questionable information.
I'll leave it right there, there are more important things on the way...

If the information came directly from Nikon, how is it questionable?
I think maybe you just don't like JP's hair style. It probably reminds you of Clowns. Nobody trusts Clowns. They are diabolical.
I don't think Fro rushed to create a video for it. The Fix program basically runs on a schedule. If he "rushed" a video for this it would've been something completely different and not one in that format. The "rush" video will probably be tomorrow morning when he reacts to the announcement. cvrle59 wrote:

Has Nikon given the typical YT clowns pre-announcement product in recent times? I haven't been paying attention lately. Canon doesn't seem to be doing it as much but Sony seems to give out the A7IV to anyone with more than 5 subs
Just wondering what sort of 3rd party "review" content will be out tomorrow morning. Only Nikon ambassadors? DPReview? The entire YT clown car?
I think Adorama might have something up, don't know about anything else. Nikon probably told Fro to kick rocks so he probably won't have it to test till Allen's Camera gets one I presume. I hope it's not just Ricci since they need someone with a presence...they should at least make Andrew Hancock and Moose Peterson do a video for it (I have no clue who Nikon's birder is). Father Nikon himself Joe McNally will probably be seen with it. arbitrage wrote:

I know that Morten Hilmer had one on during his trip to Svalbard. While it is likely that he will not be a presenter, they may use his work to promote weather sealing and animal/bird eye AF. He showed a blurred out image of the Z9 in the last 60 seconds of his most recent video.

Yeah I'd love to see his follow-up on that after announcement.

I know, I just really want to see what the AF boxes do in this camera. If they consistently stick on the subject and don't just spaz out is all I'm really interested in. Also they need to show the eye detect on the 50 1.2. That's like the true test since I know it's not consistent on that lens by any metric (it's like it works when I'm not expecting it to and off when I'm expecting it to work).
The 50mm f1.2 is my most used lens on the Z7II (i sold my Z6II together with my D6 to fund the Z9) and eye AF has been nothing short of stunning at f1.2.
That's good. I shoot way too many street candids and sometimes I don't think the AF is working right on that. I know it's not the lens because there are times where it's spot on and other times where it just seems to dip out. bernardl wrote:

I completely fail to understand the discussion on the eye AF box overlay.
It would be completely stupid of Nikon to misrepresent the level of performance of the AF of the Z9 a few days before actual samples are tested.
We can be sure that eye AF on the Z9 is totally outstanding.
I don't think anyone has questioned the Z9 AF. What has been discussed is the overlay being done in post rather than being an accurate screen capture. That has been said to be true from Nikon's own representative. It is not a misrepresentation in the context of a teaser. A demo would be an entirely different conversation.
I am absolutely expecting outstanding AF in the Z9, just as you say. I know people who have shot it, and that is what they tell me.
From a commenter on NR who seems in the know. And it fits what Peter@NR was told recently by a source, that the price would be a surprise in a positive way.

I saw it there, I would not rely on that number. However, that is a number that has been mentioned to me from insiders as recently as this morning. It would be a very aggressive pricing strategy. The cost to build the Z9 is well below the D6, so it is possible for Nikon to make its margin at that price.
The champagne will flow in the Nikon community if that is the number...

From his info it will be less than $5999 and will be considered aggressive. This does mesh with what Peter has already been told by a source in terms of the price being a happy surprise. We'll know in less than eight hours 😁
It makes no difference to me personally at this general price level, but I'd be pleased to see Nikon be aggressive and shake things up a bit.
