Going by 28-200/F2.8-5.6 which is 2.8 from 28 to 32 mm i would guess F2 will be till like 40-45, something like 40-45->50-60 F2.2, 60-75->85-100 F2.5 and 85-100->150 F2.8. It's 82 mm in diameter so i would guess that even better values are possible.

I doubt that, October seems more likely i would also assume that the new 28-75/F2.8 would be first or both at the same time but... if you're right i wouldn't complain thou.

This. I rarely go wider than 35 for portraits. f2.8 is not that exciting at 35mm but f2 is much better at that FL IMO. Then you have 85-150 f2.8 on the same lens. My portrait lineup is 35/50/85 and the Tammy 28-75. This would replace my zoom and maybe even my 85 on a lot of shoots if it’s good. I shoot 90% portraits so I might add something cheap and wide for the rare times I would miss 28 on the 28-75z Stopping at 35 on the wide end but adding an extra stop seems totally brilliant to me.

As a very flexible studio portrait lens this is very interesting for sure. Not so much for outdoors for the way I like to shoot.

It’s almost the exact same size and weight as the Sigma 35/1.2. Different lenses of course, but I’d much rather have this Tamron. If Tamron can give us good bokeh, I’m in.

This is a lot better than expected! Can’t wait to see images and bokeh! I see this as the ultimate travel lens as it weighs as much as my sigma 35 f/1.2.0

I'm more excited about this lens than just about any lens that has come out in the last few years. I'll almost certainly sell my Sigma 14-24 and 24-70 and switch over to the 16-35GM and Tamron 35-150 as a two lens backpacking kit. (3 lens kit if I include the 35GM)

I read somewhere that Tamron shared the aperture ranges and it's disappointing: the f2/ goes only from 35mm to 40mm. The other ranges: f/2.2 from 40-60, f/2.5 from 60-80 and f/2.8 from there on.
We don't know how good the lens will be at the short end (35mm). If it is, then this would like a 35mm prime + a typical 40-150 f/2.8 zoom in one package with the range 40-80 a roughly 1/3 stop faster overall - which is not bad.

I still think it will be an amazing lens for street and portraits. 35-40/F2 is a normal prime combination and you can make the same argument for 40-60/F2.2 you're not giving away much in terms of light gathering vs primes here and you get 80-150/F2.8 which isn't bad by any stretch of imagination either, it's a nice bonus. Sure you can go with 1.2/F1.4/(135)F1.8 Sony GM lenses and argue that point but in all honesty GM 50/F1.2 alone costs probably more then that Tamron will.
This Tamron is a really unique lens so unless they screwed something up (which i doubt seeing how good their lenses for FE are) it will be very popular (and convinient) one among people who like zooms. For me it's an insta day 1 buy, can't wait.

I understand this is personal, but this lens is of similar weght and 2cm longer than Sigma 35 f1.2 which I never took for a trip, so travel usage is dubious to me...
I guess we could say 100-400GM is also a nice travel lens because it doubles as a pseudo-macro .

Yep i agree with you on that point. For travel or hiking i only take Tamron 28-200 which is amazing for this purpose.
On the other hand for street or portrait i won't mind the size/weight of this Tamron and you can make the argument that 2-3 primes will weight the same or more and won't be as convinient.
At the end of the day like almost everything in photography - it's personal preference.
