Looks to have more features as well and a step up in quality. Did they give any specs in Japanese such as weight?

Anyway could be a contender and also ready to release a v2 of the 28-75 f/2.8 with all new optical formulation.

As long as this has nice rendering it could be the only lens I would ever need for portraits :o

I wonder if this turns out well if we could see a 16-35 f2-2.8 as well? 🤔

Officials did not release specific data, but It is said that bout 800~900g.

It doesn't look like an internal zoom, It's a pity.

Nothing about the weight on the Tamron site. .33m MFD on the wide end was the only tech spec I can see. This is interesting...

This lens can use the newly developed dedicated software "TAMRON Lens Utility". Connect the "connector port" for computer communication mounted on the lens to the computer with the "TAMRON Connection Cable" (sold separately) * 3) , and use the dedicated software "TAMRON Lens Utility" to customize various functions and update the latest firmware. It is possible to do it. By customizing the functions according to various shooting styles such as still images and movies, you can achieve more fulfilling shooting.
* 3) TAMRON Connection Cable (terminal shape: USB Type-A to Type-C)

First priority should be a 16-35 f/4 IMO as they have the 17-28 f/2.8.

Now whoever has the courage to do a 20-35 f/2 gets my money.

I'm not sure it not having an internal zoom is such a bad thing. In another thread, there's a discussion about how internal zoom lenses, like the Sony 200-600, lose more focal length than external zooms, like the Canon 100-500, the closer they're focused.

The dslr 35-150 was a gem. So sharp and contrasty with beautiful colors. It just didn't adapt well to sony. Does it have VC (lens stabilization)?

My take-away was the opposite, that external zooms "gain" more and that the 200-600 had barely any focus breathing compared to even the 600 GM prime - but maybe I got that backwards.

35-150mm?? Isn't it kinda weird FL? Neither wide not tele?

I haven't tested it myself, but according to the videos posted in that thread (not the Northrup video, but the two posted later) it's the internal zoom that lost more to breathing.

For some events and venues, it could be perfect with a wide prime or zoom on your second camera. Assuming it's a strong performer throughout it's range, of course.

Doesn't look like it has VC, I think the only FE Tamron lens with VC is the 150-500.

The 200-600 doesn't breathe while focusing and that always requires a focal length reduction. Tony Northrup conflates breathing and focal length reduction. Those concepts are related but mutually exclusive instead of identical.

Internal zooms do not require focal length reduction. Many extending zooms lose more focal length when focusing than non-breathing lenses. These are all different things.

This will be day 1 buy for me. Tamron trully is the king of zooms for Sony.

Exactly half of the 70-300mm, not a lens I crave, but it is normal (35-50) and short tele (85-150).

At the bottom end I guess the 17-28 works with the sneaker zoom, cliffs and walls withstanding.

At the top end it seems to pair with the 150-500 or any 100/150-400/500/600.

Just need to know the quality, Price and where the aperture changes.

With this Tamron don't seem to have much competition, only the f4 Sony's 24-105 and 28-135(power zoom for videographers).

A 35-150/2-2.8? That is exciting. I hope the f/2 aperture will last until around 50mm or so. I have long yearned for a 35-50/2 and an 85-135/2. Hope this thing has better bokeh than the current 28-75/2.8.

Hmmm. Interesting lens. Could see getting this and pairing with my 20g for landscape shots. Bummer they had to break their 67mm filter size rule but makes sense in this case I guess.

Wishful thinking but hope this can compete to some degree with the phenomenal RF 28-70 F2 from Canon. That lens is a true beast in size and quality. Even a range of 35-70 F2 and then F2.8 to 150mm would be a certain win for me.
