Good to hear i hope we also will be able to make reservation tomorrow or day after in EU.
I'm personally a little bit weary of the pre-order route they seem to be going with this... it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence from me as a potential customer. I'd rather just see a regular release and not needing to pre-order 4 weeks ahead of release in hopes of getting one. They are playing the FOMO game it seems.

That's true. Made me think about it, since i pretty much never pre-order anything, i will sleep on this.
Lately we see lenses going on.... kickstarter and indigo (or whatever it's called) from not really a startup companies which i find really odd.... First pre-orders on anything, now kickstarter and others... weird times.

Every lens today is a pre-order... so nothing wrong on Tamron's side I think.
Given the immense popularity of their 28-75 when it was first released, it might be a good idea to reserve your copy upfront IMHO.

This lens is more expensive so may not turn out the same, but the 28-75 and 24 GM, for example, were sold out for months, going on a year. The 28-75 even went up in retail price at some point.
You effectively had to put in an order and wait for stock anyway (just like pre-order). Afaik, most places don't charge until they're about to ship and you can cancel anytime.
Only possible downside is that I remember reading a story where the warranty partner/manufacturer claimed warranty started at pre-order and not shipping.

We will see how it goes, i would assume reviews will be up tomorrow or friday.
As for pre-order and stock ava. im pretty sure, here in EU it won't be a problem. This is an expensive lens and atm there is a lot of lenses for FE. When the first 28-75 came to market it was... dirt cheap for what it was vs the only other zooms on the market from Sony.

Seems like this would be a very versatile lens for shooting basketball or other indoor sports when you can be close to the court.
it could end up being the perfect lens for hockey. especially with the a1.

Interesting lens. I used to use 35-135 adaptall-2 as an excellent one lens solution if photography secondary. Any idea what the weight of the lens is yet

To big and heavy for my needs.
I’d rather carry a few small/light fast primes instead of this behemoth 😏

It's interesting to think about that. I have the CV35/2, CV50/2, and will soon have the Sigma 90/2.8. Those three together weigh 1011g. Another option might be the CV35/2, Sigma 65/2, and Batis 135/2.8, but that combo weighs 1371g. Obviously none of these are the smallest primes, but to get similar aperture and reach, it's pretty hard to put together a combo that weighs less, much less with the flexibility of the zoom. Pretty tempting to me for some purposes.

I'm guessing part of his angle is that he'd rather have 1165g in his bag than 1165g on his camera. There are always tradeoffs. One lens to do it all, don't have to swap lenses, but you're carrying it all the time mounted on the camera. If you have 3 lenses that are in the same ballpark in weight, it's a push from total weight, but you're carrying less on the camera. But then you have to swap.
Everything has tradeoffs and different people will have different priorities. I can see why people would like this lens and value the flexibility it provides, and I can also see why people wouldn't like it and and would prefer to carry some primes.
Both groups are right from their perspective. There are so many choices now, it's almost overwhelming.

Couldn‘t agree more. Some weeks ago I was saying that I don’t need anything else besides my 4 lenses 20, 35, 55 and 85 1.8 as I appreciate their low weight as well as IQ. Actually I couldn’t imagine to use a lens that weighs more than 400g.
But during my last vacation I tried the Sigma 24-70 as zooming by feet to take pictures of kids didn‘t work well. What shall I say, it was so convenient and I didn’t care about the additional weight of this lens so that I‘m even thinking about buying this new 35-150 as 70mm were sometimes not enough. On the other hand I think I would miss the 24mm. We‘ll see .
People should stop complaining about lenses because of weight, speed, etc. and use just what fits to their needs and appreciate the number of lenses we have for Sony E Mount.

I agree with both points--I personally prefer multiple smaller lenses since I'm not shooting events where I value the all-in-one approach. A 35+85 pair can be a lot smaller and perfectly adequate. Even a 35 + 70-180 can be better for travel because you can leave the zoom at the hotel sometimes.
But if you need the flexibility of the zoom and greater focal length coverage (especially above 100mm), the 35-150 will probably come in weighing less than a combination of primes.

I just prefer compact/light lenses.
I have the Tamron FE 17-28 and 28-200 for travel purposes, both are relatively compact and light.
I also prefer two small prime combos (one on the body, the other in my pocket or in a small neoprene belt pouch)
Combos like the Voigtlander FE 21/3.5 and Zony FE 55/1.8, or another combo I have is the Samyang FE 35/2.8 and 75/1.8 which I can also complement with the Voigtlander FE 15/4.5 when required.
They’re called Interchangeable Lens Cameras for a reason 😉

I took a 14-24, 28, 35, 50, 77, 105 and 100-400 on vacation with the family. Oh...and the 24-105, so I sort of did both. (Why you ask? Because I'm crazy.) I definitely got a workout.
Anyway what works for one may not be ideal for someone else, and vice versa. It's all cool.

Lol, crazy is right.
Couldn’t you fit the kitchen sink in your luggage as well? 😉
