I shoot bugs and bierds with an occasion bear or snake.
No need for this lens at all but I will purchase, just to show even more support for
Tamron....but not for $2K. I'll draw the line at $1200.

I’m a huge fan of the Tamron 70-180. It’s extremely compact and light given the focal range.
Having said that, the new 35-150 looks big to me given its focal range. When you factor in f2 toward only the widest end, it’s reasonable, especially in comparison to the new Canon RF zoom.
However, I’d rather give up the f2 for a lighter, smaller and more nimble lens in this range. When f2 and brighter is needed at the wide end, for me better to go to a small, fast prime.
Now, if I was doing weekly weddings . . . This might be perfect as a one lens solution for on the fly spontaneity.

I'd say the whole point of this lens is starting at f2...
There are already multiple slower options available in similar range: 24-105 f/4, 28-200 f/2.8-5.6 ...

I would say the whole point of this lens is starting at f2 ... and ending at f2.8 and not beeing a super zoom.
I would say there is absolutely nothing even close to it.
So I think this is a very exciting announcement.
I think this combination of speed and focal length range is great. The controls / buttons are also very promising.
I just hope that it has a significantly better bokeh than the otherwise very good 28-75mm and a better / more reliable constant sharpness over the whole image for landscape shots compared to the otherwise very good 70-180mm.
I will definitely try it out. I would never have dared to wish for a lens like this, but it's great that there will be something like this now. In my opinion, it has an infinite number of areas of application. As only lens when traveling or doing sports, my ideal focal length range for weddings, portraits,...

I wouldn't mind.
And probably it won't be f2.8 from 50mm...
I can imagine something like this:
35 = f/2
50= f/2.2
65 = f/2.5
100 = f/2.8
Yup that would great. Having F2-F2.2 at 35-50 mm and like F2.5 at 85, F2.8 at 100+. It would easily replace almost all lenses in that range for me.

I think the idea that it's only going to be f2.8 max from 100mm+ is pretty silly, the lens would be much larger if it was was f2 or f2.2 throughout most of the range. But this lens would be very cool even if it was just f2.8 because of the 35-150 focal range. I would've still been extremely excited if that's all it was. But with the extra lens functions and f2 at the wide end it just sounds incredible. Truly, unless performance and rendering are garbage this should be an incredible lens. Now we just need lenses like this below 35 and above 150 to make a variable f2 trinity

tamron already has the 150-500, I think that's the idea. Doubt they will go 150-300 f2-2.8, it would be a massive lens.

It's an interesting lens for sure. Just not sure how I would use it. Don't do alot of portrait's. It's to big to just carry around , imagine this thing hanging off your neck. I suppose for me assuming it performs might pair well with my 20mm and basically give me a 2 lens landscape kit. That could work. I have some time. I'm confident I can rationalize it some how
