I plan on buying this lens, it’s not touching the 28-200, which is substantially smaller, wider, and longer. This thing ends my search for the 70-180 f2.8. Might even sell off my 28-70 f2.8, with that lens, in no rush
Same here on the 28-200. For casual family travel it's great. I really like my 70-180 though. But this would add some versatility
in how I use that range (indoor sports etc.).

MTFs looks good. Big question in my mind with this 35-150 and the new 28-75 is how is the bokeh? I'm glad they're updating the 28-75, hopefully the bokeh is not so harsh.
The separation of tangential and sagittaal lines in the MTF indicate some astigmatism will be present which can affect the quality of bokeh, but how much? You just have to see the results.
I'm hoping the 35-150 is good, generally I've found pleasing bokeh with my few fast Tamrons, like my 35 f/1.8. The 35-150 has me very interested.

Both these lenses are interesting.
I have been on the fence about which of my lenses to sell between the 28-200, Sigma 24-70 and Sony 24-105. This lens would make it easy to sell my 28-200 and 24-70 as it would work as both a walk around and portrait lens. I already sold my 70-180. Just depends on performance and how heavy it is.
Also interested to see if Tamron indeed introduces the 16-70/4 which is already patented.

Anyone else loosing sleep after this lens was announced? Haha. No, but seriously...I can't wait for this 35-150mm.
Please have excellent sharpness in center and mid at F2. Love to see superb sharpness able to be reached in center mid range, somewhere around 75-85mm. If that bokeh is anything above average then the pre-orders are going to be insane!

Since we're like 2-3 months till release (judging by normal Tamron timeframe of announcing "working on" till bringing to market) people are just waiting for reviews and which is very important for many - price. The later one can be a deciding factor for many, especially since it seems it's gonna be pretty high (2000+$).
For me, if the IQ is there i will buy it day one even for 2000$.

This looks like it could be a fantastic portrait lens. I’m definitely curious. If it has good rendering, I will probably replace my 28-75, not buy a 135 I’ve been thinking about, and then maybe add something small and cheap in 20-24 range for shooting in small spaces where I just can’t move back but need the context. The 28-75 has pretty crusty bokeh and 35 f2.8 is not that exciting, but I might actually use a zoom for wider portraits at 35 f2 if it draws well. I’m currently rocking 35/50/85 primes + the Tamron for when I need the flexibility, am shooting indoors with close bgs or studio style stopped down a bit, or when I just need 28mm. I can live with 35 on the wide end for portraits 90% of the time. Give me sharp to the rule of thirds wide open at every FL, corners be damned, and I’ll probably buy this.

If it's 2000+$ in US, it's gonna be visibly higher in EU, as Tamron history shows...

Call me a conspiracy theorist but my first thought on the G2 is they did this in collaboration with Sony to give Sony more time to replace the current 24-70 GM.
I understand they are different in a lot of ways but the current G1 was compared favorably to the current GM.
Just a thought but having said that I kept my GM. The G2 may change my mind.

I think we'll have to wait and see how it performs in reviews. You're right, it's interesting that they came out with it so soon after a relatively popular original. It would be nice to hope for some really impressive performance upgrade somehow... hard to imagine how they could wring much more performance out of the basic concept (a reasonably-sized, reasonably-priced, 3x standard zoom)... they're already very good and the things that hold them back are getting towards being fundamental to the design constraints, surely?... I mean, they can't be quite as sharp as a prime, they can't have as little distortion or vignetting at equal apertures. Maybe autofocus speed and reliability? But any improvement is welcome if they can come up with it. Might make for cheaper 2nd-hand copies of the original model, too, for anyone who has been waiting to buy one.
(There's already sort-of a thread covering both these new Tamrons that this discussion might fit better into, but this thread about the 35-150 seems to be the one that has gotten rolling more than the other, so whatever I guess!)...Show more →

I wouldn't pay much credence to rumors like that. We'll know more soon.
(Glad you joined the forum 11 days ago and are already so active Immortal yet best not to spread a rumor without clear substantiation, whether in Warsaw or Wyoming.)
If I told you the next gen Sony 70-200 f2.8 was going to sell for $2999 would you believe me? Better not!

No idea why are you still going back to that. Rumors are just rumors i thought i made that clear and we can validate them when the official price will be announced. Nobody should take rumors with 100% certanity. This thread is full of rumors since there is little to none of actual info about 35-150 F2-2.8. We're all waiting for the official annoucment. In the meantime we (with people who had been here way before you registered) speculate. Nothing wrong with that and nobody else beside you seems to have a problem with that nor it's against the rules.

It wouldn't sell to me at that price but the current one is at $2600 so that price wouldn't surprise me.
Tamron has filled gaps in the Minolta/Sony lens line up before. I don't think it was as technically difficult in the slr days.
I like my 28-200 for what I do so neither new lens leaps out at me as a must have. My interests at this point might be a fast prime or more likely something that is longer than the 28-200 and not as big/bulky as the 200-600. There are several potential gap fillers already out thre for that.

No idea why? In case your memory is short, see your post that is ten above this one. You are still spreading the rumor. Please kindly link to your source.

You misunderstood.
I've no idea why are you comming back to it while i already explained why we can and do talk rumors here (and not only here). I get it, you don't like and that's fine however there is no rule against it nor other people mind so just ignore those (my and any other people who talk about rumors) posts and be happy. Nobody is forcing you to believe in anything and for the third time everybody should take rumors with a grain of salt.
That being said im done with explanation to you as i've done nothing against the rules nor i need to explain myself to you.

There is nothing writing something like “I think it might cost....”
But instead it appears YOU created an unsubstantiated rumor. That’s not ethical.
