Large Alligator, road-killed on previous night, being removed from U.S 19 highway. This is a selfie of me in about 1986 working as a Wildlife Biologist for Florida's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Somebody had to do it. . I love the Everglades.
I can smell it there in this image right now.......I think it is the sugar cane that I smell. The cane farms are about 10 miles up the U.S 19 on the left side of the road. Spring through Summer months are my favorite times. No windy cold fronts and cloudy saltwater. And the birds are nesting Those are the most exiting months.

Great pic!
I'm not into road kill, but would have been tempted to BBQ that tail! Some of the best eatin' ever was at my outlaw in-law uncle's place in the SC low country. They had a big black water creek at the bottom of the property and 4 kids, used to eat a gator a week except during mating season.

Yikes. I'd give up driving if I ever ran over this thing.
Once I ran over a giant snake in Oklahoma and I had to down 4 shots of whiskey to get over the yuck factor.
Had nightmares about it for many nights.

Amen to that Bruce! It is pretty amazing that the the D500 was introduced over 5 years ago and still
produces outstanding images compared to all the newer bodies whether DSLR or mirrorless.
And some nice images you are posting folks. Keep'em coming.

What I really miss is the D750 - it was somehow .. just right for me. Might get another to keep for a few years.
