Ever since I started shooting nature (1974), the ABF has been one of my favorite subject.
Just a couple of points to make:
>. ABF is only native to eastern North America
> If you google the ABF you will see it is an invasive throughout the rest of NA and in parts of Europe
>. Man is the #1 vector for moving all invasive species around the planet. As *the human population continues to grow unbridled*. the problem of man moving species into habitat they are not native to...... continues to increase.
>. I used to encounter ABF's when doing loon work. Now, the only problem I have is finding one. One reason for this is that Great Blue Herons are proficient at locating ABF's. And there are not many to start with each year. In the first pond of my boyhood, there were no ABF's last year..

Old images, new processing. If my D500 had a totally silent shutter I probably never would have upgraded to Z system.
Sigma 150-600 S
From a purely IQ standpoint, the best combo I've personally shot with was the D810 and my 500 F4 AF-I.
