Just picked up this lens. Does anyone know where I can find an inexpensive hood? I’m look kg around eBay and such but I’m not exactly sure how to know it won’t vignette etc…
Thanks!
The lens accepts Voigtlander LH-4N and LH-12 hoods.
Haoge makes hoods as substitutes for thes hoods available on Amazon which are less expensive.
I purchased the Haoge LH-VM12 which is a replacement for the LH-12.
The CV 28/2 Ultron II has strong flare resistance, so I use it bare without any hood. Since the Leica RF's 28mm frameline is pretty much the edge of the viewfinder, that's another reason to ditch the hood. As a matter of fact, most modern lenses with MC coating don't need any hood to prevent flare. For front element protection, just use a high quality clear filter.

oh! well in that case... I like a hood for protection (I shoot weddings so my cameras are swinging all over the place), but I slapped a filter on there. Keeps it small as well.
Here's a few whatever photos from yesterday and this morning (you know how those first few days with a new lens goes )
Love the bokeh on this! I'm a big swirly fan. It's hard to find on wider lenses. Probably going to send the camera out to Kolari soon.
Has anyone tried this lens on GFX? How is the coverage? Specifically I'm looking for horizontal edge to edge performance, corners aren't important as I may want to pair this lens with the GFX 50R an its 65:24 crop for a digital X-Pan look. Of course 28mm is wider than 30mm but I don't know of any full frame 30mm lenses, and I could always crop in slightly. The GF 30mm is probably fine but a bit slow and not that small.

The Voigtlander 28 f/2 II does not cover the GFX sensor well at all. I think your best bet for what you want to do is probably the Pentax 31 f/1.8. It doesn't have perfect coverage, bit it is pretty small and has a nice rendering and is pretty fast and probably cover enough for what you want.

Good addition. Thanks. I’ll take a look at that lens although I think the Ultron may greatly outperform it. I can’t find any coverage information, do you happen to know if it covers the GFX sensor somewhat?

Sensor cleaning test on my M10 with 50mm Summilux 50mm/1.4 ASPH looks clean, but the 28mm Ultron II looks like this. Cleaning the rear element makes no difference. Seems to be internal dust?
The instructions for Dust Detection are to stop down to the largest (“f/16 or f/22”), defocus and take a photo of something with no detail (I shot the sky).
I ran Dust Detection again. If I only stop down to f/16 the specks are not visible. If I stop down one or two clicks more (the lens goes to f/22), the specs are visible again. The Summilux only stops down to f/16 and the specks are not visible.

Yes, there is a big thread on alt lenses on the GFX in the Leica and alt forum (and cross posted to the Fuji forum) and there were some examples of the Pentax 31 in that thread. It has a lot more coverage than the Voigtlander Ultron 28, which in my view really needs to be cropped to FF. If you want 4 X 3 or 4 X 5 you can get a bigger version of those aspect ratios with the GFX getting a full 43mm diagnonal (you of course can only get a 40mm diagonal if you crop to 4 X 3 using a FF 35mm camera) with them, but you are not going to come close to getting the full 55mm diagonal required for the GFX in 4 X 3.
Starts at the bottom of that page, and goes for 3 or 4 more.
The Pentax 31 is a wonderful lens—used it for years. Still miss mine. Coverage on the GFX is surprisingly good, the draw is quite nice, and the price is quite low nowadays. Really a bargain for a nice rendering 24/1.4-ish on MF option. If I had a GFX, the Pentax would be used frequently, especially given the lack of fast wide glass for the system.
trying to get the hang of manual focusing a wide angle again (I've used a manual 21 forever, but that I generally stop down as much as possible, and wide open, at 2.8, it has way more dof than the 28 at f/2...
I got mine about month ago. I prefer it to the Summicron v1 and the Elmarit. I also got the Summilux after that, so far the Ultron is winning though...

Hahah! Matching 28mm journeys! I also got the Ultron v2 then the Summilux after having the the Elmarit v4 and the Summicron v1. As good as the Ultron is though, the Lux is winning for me. And I’m curious to see how Fred’s test of the TTArtisan 28/5.6 turns out.

interesting! why do you prefer the ultron over the Summilux?
