Sorry, it's the middle of the week and I only managed a few photos during my lunch break! I agree that the photos could be better though, will be out with the lens this weekend so hopefully will have something better then
In the meantime, here's a photo where the focus point is around 2.5 - 3m away, with foliage in the areas out of focus. Hopefully this will be more useful.
I like to have a Sony 50mm GM with f/1.2. But I'm wondering if it even gives too much of an advantage next to my Sony 35mm 1.4 GM, because the 50 GM is more of a 45mm and just too similar. But I think the AF is faster from the 50mm GM again, would be useful for children photography.
This lens has a rendering that is somewhat reminiscent to me of the the Zeiss Apo Sonnar 2/135mm. It's a very fine subtle look that doesn't have the ultra contrasty look of lenses with a more pop-off-the-screen 3d rendering. I was hoping this lens would give me that incredible Otus 55mm look (my all-time favorite lens), and it comes up short of that, but I'm liking what I'm seeing here a lot nonetheless. 2021 is turning out to be a very very very expensive year for me.
Ja, it does have a rather dreamy look, similar to the 85 1.4 GM that I owned, just sharper wide open. Real test will be when the sun is out again. The images in the forrest with very soft and reduced lighting support this "low contrast" impression we have...
