Rent the 50mm f/1.2 GM. It is nothing short of astounding.
I have been fighting with myself and my wife about getting the 50 1.2 GM. Today I spent a few hours out shooting my old Zony 55 1.8 and was reminded that it's pretty good. I think I can hold off a little longer.
The lens I am kind of obsessed with right now is the new Tamron 35-150...really Jonesing for that lens.

I'm seeing so many beautiful pictures here that I want this lens and then I remember I barely use the 35 I have. I am really appreciating what this lens can do in the right hands
I know the feeling. I have a Loxia 35 that I rarely use. OTOH, I have a Batis 40 2 that is quite good and close enough to 35 that I haven't pulled the trigger on the 35 GM yet. And lately I've really been wondering if I shouldn't buy the Tamron 35-150 and sell many of the lenses that I already own in that range (including the 24-70 2.8 GM and 24-105 Sony lenses). I think that maybe the 16-35 GM, the 35-150 Tamron, and my 100-400 GM are all I really need for what I do. Which I hadn't sold my original 16-35 F4. It was a good copy. Thought I'd get the new 16-35 GM but never did.
What a nice casual walk around lens. Out for dinner tonight. Spotted an under appreciated car outside of the restaurant. Apologies for the super low res 2mb phone transferred jpegs.
I bought this lens portraits and documenting everyday life, but quite surprisingly it has become my goto lens for walks in nature. Optical quality, light weight, rugged build and flawless af make a lens that is at home everywhere
I don't own a Sony camera, and I don't intend to, but this is a very enjoyable thread. I was looking for examples of how a 35mm lens can be used, and I found some great ones here!
