Yep, should be one or a few clicks in lightroom. It's LoCA so it won't be corrigible using a profile.
The sharpness of this lens continues to wow me. I took a landscape test shot at f/1.4 and 7.1 and I honestly had a hard time telling them apart at 100% at the frame edges. Like, sure, it's a 24 MP sensor but still, isn't that nuts?
This is right at the frame edge, it looked very similar everywhere apart from where DoF effects mattered.
Yes, it's unbelievably (unnecessarily ?) sharp wide open.
Funnily enough, the few times I brought it up around here it was actually treated as a negative ("People only post close-up shots and crops because that's all 35GM's sharpness is good for.") so I stopped posting ...

When people start making those kinds of noises I like to remind myself that subject, framing, storytelling and vision is what really matters and that lenses are not what makes an image great.
But yeah, for now I'll be taking reflection landscape pics in the eyes of horses at f/1.4.
A few test snaps with the newly acquired Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM. It has great corner to corner sharpness and lovely rendering.
Now the question is whether or not I part with the 24mm GM and/or the CV 40mm f/1.2 Nokton?

As a CV40 shooter interested in autofocus alternatives, I'd love to hear your comparison between the two. Especially, size/weight and handling.

I guess the GM is a little bit bigger? Honestly, I haven't used my CV 40 after getting my GM back in March. I know some might find the bokeh not especially perfect, or the rendering kind of "boring" because it is perhaps too clinical, but as a general purpose lens, I love it. I have a lot of fun using it, and manual focus has a surprisingly good feel to it, so I use it for both manual and AF. It's an extremely versatile lens, and I think that's the point of it.

I had an loved the CV40. Actually had a couple of them. Love the rendering and colors of CV. Wish they made AF lenses. But I have to be honest. I don't agree with the "clinical" description of the GM rendering at all. The size is the only thing I miss about the CV. But the reality is if you want AF you need space for the motors. So if you want 1.4 and AF the additional size is just something you have to deal with. I have tried basically every 40mm and 35mm manual and AF versions and the GM is still the one I find the best all around.

Hi, Graham--That's the problem. It's hard for me to compare because I really like the size, weight, and handling of both the CV 40 and the 35 GM. In fact, I don't notice that much difference other than the obvious manual vs af focusing. So, for me, it comes down to IQ, and although the sharpness of the GM at all apertures out-duels the 40, I am afraid I would greatly miss the "character" and dual nature of the 40: classic character and rendering at f/1.2 to f/2 shifting to a truly modern tool at f/2.8 and beyond with a great focus throw making the manual aspects of the lens more a joy than a chore. All that is exacerbated by my also having a Sony 24 GM and several zooms in that 24-50 range. I know I need to get rid of something due to redundancy and ultimate lack of use, but the decision is difficult, especially since I am fairly eclectic in my photography interests.
I rented this for a day and was so impressed by it.
Even wide open, at MFD, etc .. it handled everything like a champ!! Must save up for this next 🙈 .. sorry, wallet
