Given my day job I'm a little more coordinated than Dufous Northrup when it comes to handling things with precision. I know I seem to be in the minority but the right hand lens release button is easily in my top 10 things I love about Sony...maybe even my top 5.

Better flippy screen? with better res.
Dual tilt ie Fuji or combo tilt and flip (there are rare occasions I wouldn't mind the flip) like S1H would be nice. If higher res doesn't drain my batteries too much then why not. I'm not bothered by the current res but I'm not getting any younger and my eyesight may be on the way out

I'm not so sure about that, it scares me my lens falling off... that's alot of money falling on the ground and Tony seems very knowledgeable about Sony gear.

I prefer Sony's lens release button there, very nice at weddings to quickly change lenses. I never had any issue with accidently releasing a lens even with gloves.
Regarding TN: Not really. Only on the surface.

I'm thinking Nikon might be the sleeper of the bunch, That Z9 just might kick the A1's butt, should be the same sensor and those Nikon engineers seem to kick ass on the Sony engineers.

I can only go off my three years experience and never once accidentally touching that button. Of course I don't wear giant winter gloves either. Even at -30C in the Yukon I didn't wear that sort of stuff while doing photography. You actually have to make a little effort to shift your finger around/under the lens to even hit it when I want to use it. Total non-issue for me and that is all that matters. I'd be more worried about knocking over my tripod and having my camera/lens fall off a 200ft cliff while the Pygmy Owl laughs hysterically from above

That's what scares me about the A1, Tony made it look so easy to drop a 20,000$ lens, surely the A1 would not have survived that fall and the Sony lens looks to be more flimsy than the Canon's
Northrop might be the only one who has had that problem.
As for durability, I had a strap let go and dropped my a1 with 600f4 attached, both were fine (soft dirt, mild heart attack).

You're one lucky photographer, The one thing I like about the canon 1dx's was the toughness you could throw them off a mountain pick it up and scroll through your pics..

This happened to me once with my a9 II, luckily I noticed something was wrong before there was a complete disconnect. Now I’m just careful when wearing gloves but I would prefer the button on the other side.

That is just funny. The guy who uses the by far slowest autofocusing lens in the entire Sony lineup to judge autofocus performance. The guy who uses settings that lower FPS to test max FPS. The guy who complains about settings he obviously don't understand the purpose of. As a Canon dude you should have taken the hint when he used some ancient 500mm Canon lens to test the AF performance of the R5 but I guess that is forgotten now.
Yeah tell me about it. I'm not concerned with the build quality. While smaller than the canons, it feels plenty solid, and has less mass to hit the ground with. I won't get into pros and cons of the larger size, this one is purely personal preference, no technical argument to be had. I was happy with the size when I had a 1d mark iv, and I'm happy with the size of the sonys (with grip).

I am sorry, but it would be nice if you actually had something to back your claim up before make it instead of just dispensing useless assumptions as facts. This is at least a main part of the reason you are meeting resistance here. In fact making claims like that without anything to base it on can easily pass as trolling, because it gets hard to see any other motivation behind it.
Won't need gloves today but I know I'll be thinking about this my entire walk later. I keep my lens in a strap though so nothing would hit the ground unless I was on a tripod, in which case the body in theory would be in my hand anyway. As for the strap, the part that let go was a blackrapid QD connector. The tolerances of which were clearly inferior to the RRS ones which I have switched back to.
