Let us know if that works.
I can't find it, ordered more that will arrive Sunday. I'll keep looking through drawers. I'll bring some gaffer's tape this weekend too, just experimenting you can cover about 1/2 the sensor completely before it trips.

Interesting...I'll try the 1/2 tape trick tomorrow also.

Not sure the tape will do anything but figured it's easy to try. I also ordered something similar. PS, I did report this to sps . They said they would 'pass it along' but don't have any troubleshooting steps yet.

I haven't experience the problem with eye sensor so far, will check it out again tomorrow morning. I have replaced the eyepiece with the bigger dippesize, that may help but I have to check first before I could be sure. Either way, it's great for outdoor, check it out.

EVF issues continued today, although not as bad (different location), but still noticeable. I can attest to the durability though..... I had a QD connector let go (blackrapid one, had play in it, lesson learned, switching back to RRS ones only. The camera and 600F4 thwomped to the ground which was luckily fairly soft. The a1 took the brunt of the blow and just needed to have the dirt knocked off it and right back to shooting once my heart attack faded :-)
Eye cup comes tomorrow, I think that's going to be the most reliable fix

That is the one I just ordered earlier today after my EVF troubles. I hope it helps some. Otherwise I'll just have to shoot in the rain only

Congrats, you may very well be the first to drop an A1 and with no less than the most expensive E-mount lens attached. Color me impressed you survived your heart attack:-D

Last week Amazon updated my order with an estimate of March 24 ~ April 12. Just a few minutes ago, I got a shipping notification with an arrival estimate of March 16. Next Tuesday! Very happy right now.

Does doing that not keep the EVF on all the time because the tape is partially over the sensor? Or are you taping a different area?
I remember it being on the bottom left but your only covering part of it. So in essence it was just reducing what that sun was pouring in and worked normal
Btw did anyone bring up if your left eye or right eye shooters. It maybe only a problem my guess right eye?

I'm shooting R eye. I used to shoot L with DSLR as it is my dominant eye but now I prefer my R.
Today in light overcast I had no EVF wake issues. When the sun finally came through at 10AM I had one instance. Sun was over my R shoulder and behind. I quit for the morning shortly after that. I had to cover the EVF sensor with my thumb to get it to recognize my face again.

I guess we have a different Sun here in Europe . I tried to reproduce the issue at dusk, the sun right behind me, I saw it reflecting in the lcd screen, EVF and most importantly the sensor below the EVF and every time I picked up the camera to my eye it switched immediately. Maybe it needs to be exposed to the sun for some time as I only tried a couple times during 5 minutes maximum...

I played with it today. The trick is finding and angle where bright sun continues to hit the sensor the whole time your put your up to it. Basically make sure there is no shadow on the sensor until your eye is too close to see it. I could make it happen almost every time that way (again 10am sun angle). Based on this I think the longer eye cups we've all ordered will mostly if not completely resolve it
