Plenty of people are using darkrooms in CA. Water and all. I develop my film all the time. I mean sure I’ve stopped washing my car. Priorities.
That is great to hear. I had 2 print washers including one large enough for 12 16x20 sized prints and used to run water through them for several hours at a time. Washing film (I used large Patterson tanks) also used a substantial amount of water. I don't scan and preferred a complete analog workflow when I did have a darkroom.

Just saw it, too - but states now it will be the MP successor and won't be cheap . Depending on what kind of changes are made in this future model, the MP price might even climb higher.....
The only business logic I can see to releasing a new M film camera, is that Leica has seen its sales drop off due to so many floating around out there in the used market.
Leica may be selling all it can make, but unless we have actual year to year sales figures, we don't know how many that is! So they could be reducing production to keep on selling all they make.
But what do I know? I'd love an improved M7 with at least 1/4000 sec shutter and that BS DX system removed. All that does is make you wonder why you have a blinking LED in the vf...
What would an improved MP be? It would have to remain mechanical (otherwise why not the M7 type?).
Seeing how in demand Contax T2/T3s are, a new Minilux/CM makes sense to me.

I don't believe anybody truly expected it to be cheap...
Certainly not now that Leica figured out that they can charge close to $6K for an entry level fixed lens camera and get away with it...

In the past I had initial hopes that they would re-issue some sort of film CL camera for $500-600. But this would no longer fit into Leica's agenda to push the luxury segments and separate from cheaper / more affordable cameras and lenses.

Ohhh, yes! I dislike this in my M7, too. Wish the BS DX readout could be turned off somewhere in this camera.

Leica Rumors only said it would replace the MP, not that it would improve upon the MP...
If people are willing to pay $3-4K for a used M6 why would they not pay $6K for a new one?

Yes, for the same reason I would not expect a (point and shoot) CM either. Leica wants to be high end, high price (>$5K) and high margin.

They pretty much are already doing both things. A new MP is $5500. Used M6 prices actually seem to have dropped recently - I see them sell for $2500.
I would love to see an all new film M, not an M-A which is an M-P w/o meter. But for the 'rumors' to say it is out in the field now being tested suggests that whatever this camera is, it is a big change.
I still don't believe it. But I so badly want to be wrong!

Perhaps an R10 with autofocus? That would be a big change...
I have an R9, and a Nikon F6. I hardly use either just because they are so... too much. The only way I can see to improve the film M is to put in a new shutter for higher speeds, and perhaps some metering modes.

It could be a remake of the original M3 with 0.91x viewfinder which no other current M has. Combine with other features of the MP and sell for $6K.
So an MP with a .91 finder?
They used to offer the MP and M7 w/ .58, .72 and .85.
My MP is a .58.
