Nope, if I don't push the film all the way up so that the silver bar at the bottom shows, the film gets mangled on the spool. Gotta be very deliberate. The back of the camera that flops all around is annoying to me, as is having to hold it tight against the camera while re-attaching the base plate so as to properly catch its corner closest to the spool versus mash into it.
