The only business logic I can see to releasing a new M film camera, is that Leica has seen its sales drop off due to so many floating around out there in the used market.
Leica may be selling all it can make, but unless we have actual year to year sales figures, we don't know how many that is! So they could be reducing production to keep on selling all they make.
But what do I know? I'd love an improved M7 with at least 1/4000 sec shutter and that BS DX system removed. All that does is make you wonder why you have a blinking LED in the vf...
What would an improved MP be? It would have to remain mechanical (otherwise why not the M7 type?).
Seeing how in demand Contax T2/T3s are, a new Minilux/CM makes sense to me.
Leica Rumors only said it would replace the MP, not that it would improve upon the MP...
If people are willing to pay $3-4K for a used M6 why would they not pay $6K for a new one?
