Here are couple of snapshots with Nikon 50/1.2s+ Z7 ii and Canon R5 + 50/1.2 RF. I stood side by side with my friend so angle is a little different. Just imported raw file into PS. I change profile for Nikon to camera portrait and for Canon to adobe portrait. I don't have any Canon profile on my PS for some reason so I have no idea how the real Canon color profile is like.
Otherwise, no further adjustment in PS except for resize and conversion to jpg.
Nikon 1/50s, iso 900, f1.2
Canon 1/80s, iso 1600, f1.2
Sorry slight miscommunication on shutterspeed when we tried.
spoiler alert........... I will say which picture is from which camera in a comment on the next post below.
Thank you for doing this the way you did it! I did not peek and gave a slight preference to the bottom frame for slightly smoother bokeh and slightly more micro-contrast. It is perhaps a teeny bit sharper as well, but hard to tell without looking at 100% crops -- would be nice to see crops of her eyes and purse if you have a chance (I also gave a slight nod to the color balance in the bottom frame, but you explained that so I don't weigh it here.)
I think the two lenses remain very close as I stated earlier, but I do now admit a slight preference toward the Nikon based on these comparative side-by-sides. If I owned a Canon body and the Canon lens, the difference shown here would not cause me to jump into the Nikon camp -- but given I'm already in the Nikon camp, I am smiling a little

Thank you for posting these comparisons. Once again, my preference was on the second shot. This one is harder for the different angle makes the second shot more interesting to me, and feels more three dimensional. Also the bokeh of plant behind on the second shot is very nice.
Nikon has more blur again. The light bulb looks bigger with Nikon one. I wonder if this comes from slightly longer focal compare to Canon? The plant indeed looks smoother in Nikon image.
The first set in previous pg, I slightly prefer Canon for different reason but for this set, I also prefer Nikon, both are top rated glasses.
Again, the biggest difference for me is that the Canon is darker around the edges. All other qualities are very comparable. I do notice slight fringing around the candle lights on the Canon image that’s not there on the Nikon image. But only very minor.

I suspect you see that because the point-source light in the background is framed closer to the center in the Nikon image and as you move further off-axis re the Canon's frame, the point source circles start to cateye more...
The Japanese video posted earlier featured a few shots where the Nikon 50 1.2 had strikingly superior bokeh IMO. The comparison on this page confirms it for me.
Okay, I’m strange. What stood out for me was the red on her fingernails. Nikon’s is better IMO, but that could be the files used. But I will say, one reason I switched back to Nikon from Canon was the rendering of the reds.

I asked of a Leica shooter several years back, "Why is it so many Leica shooters take pictures of their cats?"
The Leica shooter replied, "Because they stay still long enough for us to focus, set the exposure, frame and actually get a proper shot off. And they don't blink either."
