That's the one thing I really wish Sony would address as a firmware option, that you could setup the camera to shoot with electronic shutter when shutter time is faster than approx. 1/500s and with efcs/mechanical when slower.
OT, but the Fuji GFX 50R can switch automatically from EFCS to mechanical shutter at 1/640. Very convenient to get rid of funky bokeh. It also then switches to electronic shutter at faster than 1/4000 (max for the mechanical). This however, isn't very clever since these cameras have so bloody slow readout of the sensor that a single frame takes ~1/3 second. So it's not really possible to shoot handheld at faster than 1/4000. Unless you accept bent lines.
Dustin Abbott in his review of the 65mm f2 does indicate that it has strong performance at close distance. He does also compare this lens wide open with the CV 65mm f2 and both lenses are very close with the CV having the edge in the extreme corners (impressive). The bokeh seems quite good with slight cats eyes on the edges.

About the USB-DOCK...
The L mount and Canon mount Dock do give the possibility not only to update the firmware, but also to customize the rotation sensitivity of the focus ring in MF mode...
For Sony E-mount users this option is not possible...
What a pity!
Firmware updates can still be done with the DG DN E-mount lenses. (no dock needed)
Also, why would anyone change the focusing ring's rotation sensitivity if it's already linear?

I suppose some like it very slow for fine tuning at the expensive of rapid racking, others prefer the opposite? Certainly people differ about how much throw they like on an MF helicoid which amounts to the same thing..
I know it’s a feature with Panasonic camera S1 so that you can adjust 90degree, 120, 180 and 360 degree but I don’t find that feature supported by Leica or Sigma yet.
Maybe it is there with SL2S. Not sure.

I think there's a lot of room for exploration in user-customization on the focus ring. It doesn't have to be all rapid or all slow, though those should be options. Some people might prefer to define the experience based on their usage, particularly when it comes to zooms. For example, you may prefer a quick focus action on the wide end of a 24-70, but want a slower action on the tele end. Or you may prefer all of your lenses to be quick focusing down to three meters, where you want the behavior to change. Or perhaps you moved over from Nikon or Pentax and prefer the "left" way of manually focusing, you could set that behavior for all your lenses.
I don't know that we'll ever see that level of customization, but the door is open for it.

That sounds pretty great, to be quite honest. Panasonic often include cool features in their cameras that others ignore. Didn't they have an in camera focus limiter option as well? That's also very cool. Idk why every company doesn't do stuff like this. If only their autofocus wasn't trash...
Focus throw should not be compared to focus speed sensitivity. One is measured in degrees and the other in speed. I agree that it would be very useful to tweak the lens' throw if available as a software option.
Now if we could make the ring have more or less “resistance” it could be also interesting.
Honestly I think the 45/2.8 focus by wire is a pleasure to use and I would want the new lenses to have the same implementation.

I thought, maybe wrongly, that they don’t mean the sensitivity of the speed *change* in non-linear mode, but the sensitivity per degree of turn in linear mode, which is roughly equivalent to throw. So we know for sure which they mean?
Will there be a technical reason why the USB DOCK for the L-mount and Canon mount have the possibility to customize the rotation sensitivity of the focus ring in MF mode, while the Sony E-mount dock does not?
Or is this just a commercial move to stimulate L-mount.
No price difference between the docks.

Does Sigma have a USB dock for Sony E-mount?
Sigma's website lists 3 docks and none of them are for Sony E. One can be used with Sony A-mount lenses.
I'm pretty sure there is no E mount dock, Sigma lens firmware is updated through the camera, using the same/similar software as Sony lenses. That software doesn't expose any settings modifications, it's just a firmware updater.
I don't think anything would preclude Sigma from making an E mount dock, but I'm not sure they have a huge motivation either.

USB lens docks: UD-11SE (for Sony E-mount), UD-11L (for L-mount) and UD-11EM USB (for Canon EF-M mount)
I searched for UD-11SE but only found some rumours from end of March 2020 about it and no actual listings in Sigma sites or online shops. Is it being sold somewhere?
