"I just spoke to [the store's] buyer and he has not received any concrete dates for first delivery at this time, but he will let me know as soon as he hears something, and I'll try to keep you posted. We often do not know what our initial allocation is until the day they arrive."

Since we're keeping track of the delivery status: the lens seems to have finally started to trickle into PL shops, though in very limited quantity.
Hopefully I'll get mine for the weekend, just in time to do a shootout against the Bigma .

I am one of those who replaced the Sigma 1.2/35 with the GM. I really don't find the Sigma significantly better in rendering than the GM; and the GM has won me over wth superb usability as well as somewhat greater sharpness (not that that matter at all, the Simga was plenty sharp enough). But the GM renders beautifully, and does so while being usable as a take everywhere standard lens, which the Sigma never was, at least for me.

Still waiting for my 35 GM. Hope it ships next Monday from B&H. No longer have my ZA 35 or FE 35/1.8 to compare it to since I have sold both since this was announced and pre-ordered. Will compare it to some of my 6 zooms on two systems that cover 35 but only down to f/2.8. Also want to see how it compares to my Batis 40/2 and to results I get with my 23/1.4 on Fuji XF mount.
The reason I sold my ZA without waiting to compare it was that I knew my copy was not perfect. Very acceptable but not perfect. Have a few manual 35s to compare to as well but do not expecting those to push it. One is the Loxia 35/2. The best AF 35 I've had in the past is my EF 35/1.4L version 1 which was very sharp but that is also long gone.

The tombstone is only one where I see an objectionable level of background contrast/structure.

All else seem pretty smooth.
Interesting! I actually think the tombstone backlit trees was the best rendering, but I guess to show that I’d need to dig up my other images taken in the same conditions with other lenses.

Just talked to B&H and good news for those who placed an order late for the 35mm GM, like me. They are expecting to receive 2,000 units next week and their backorders are only a bit more than half of that, so all backorders should ship by the 16th or so.
Definitely not the huge pre-order rush the 24GM had.

Bigma and the new GM, I'm not telling which is which yet. Not exactly the same focus, but I think comparable enough. These are embedded jpegs, so not representative of quality but I just wanted to show the difference between the two lenses.

I would say the left one is the Sony. The hint is the DOF and the color fringing that I've read is an issue with the Sony per some reviews.
