p.77 #1 · Pre-order: Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM ($1,399)
Weather has been horrendous since my lens arrived, that in addition to lockdown has meant not too many photo ops but here are some snapshots of the kids from the 35GM. Barely any editing done (lens profile applied and the highlights lowered slightly). I was wanting to see how it would render the background which was lots of bushes and trees i.e. very busy. Happy with the way it looks in that regard. All shot wide open with electronic shutter

Cute shots . I’m trying to figure out the backgrounds . I have totally different scenery so I’ll have to see when I get it. My backgrounds are really busy with desert scenery

Guy, it’s basically a row of trees and hedges but most of the green is gone with it being winter so it’s essentially just trees and branches for the most part

Was EFSC on by chance.
I’m probably going to be worse but I agree guys it’s very nice overall or maybe better than anything else. I decided to go ahead and the Sigma 35 too and test them out.

I'm still a little apprehensive about bokeh smoothness vs. the ZA. I guess I'll do my own comparison once my GM comes in.
I can see that against the ZA which bokeh it did not lack. Onion rings and stuff like that the GM wins the race. Obviously not a cheap lens and we all want to get what we want and it’s value. I will certainly be testing and also against the Sigma 35 F2

BTW Guy, it's unfortunate you didn't trademark your initials. Sony's going around calling their lenses "GM", no doubt to trick us into thinking they've been Big Bronco-tested and approved by you!
(apologies if I'm not the first to make that joke!)

I'm enjoying all the photos in the thread, regardless of creative intent or not. I'm just chomping at the bit to get this lens. It's been a long wait and it has made me realize that I really need 35mm in my life. I think I've missed a lot of shots in 2021 because I sold my ZA 35.

This delay is slowly killing my interest in this lens . 50GM with its distant release date is starting to loook more and more attractive ...
It is the opposite for me. Since I sold my ZA 35, leaving me with no 35mm lens, the delay has made me realize how much I need 35mm in my photography. This may sound like an excuse (or maybe it's just flat out an excuse ), but I feel like I've missed a lot of the shots I wanted to take of my baby son the past few months.
I have filled the gap with the 24 GM, but since I also sold my ZA 50, I have a huge gap in focal length until 85mm.
Had I known there would be a delay, I probably would have kept one of those lenses during the months of waiting.
The wait shouldn't be much longer, and soon after the 35 GM arrives, I can enjoy the 50 GM, and hopefully I won't be buying/selling many more lenses the rest of the year (at least, this is what I tell my wife).

E-Infin has the 35 GM in stock for $1800 or so, over here I can buy the lens but the price is higher than in the US. I'm going to wait for the US to receive stock and import it from there, or buy it on E-Infin when they drop the prices down (which I think they will when it's available internationally).
I really like the Sigma 35 f/2, but as 35 is my preferred focal length and I have my Ricoh GR for when I want to go light, I am going to pick up the 35 GM later this year... at least that's how I'm feeling now.
Edit: Also something that annoys me is Sony are running a new cashback campaign but the 35 1.4 isn't part of it...
