Yeh, this must be a record off the complaining blocks. The lens specs have not yet been released and we've have something to complain about.

Somebody on SAR comments mentioned the hood is a bit deep for a 35mm comparing to the petal shaped hood of the FE 35 F1.4. Looks like the FE 35 F1.8 also uses a petal shaped hood too.

The 24mm GM filter thread is also only 67mm, quite amazing actually. Same as all Tamron FE zooms and f/2.8 primes. One could perhaps speculate about a 50mm f/1.2 at 67mm, but the video has shown the mystery lens to be a f/1.4 prime.

The hood for this lens looks quite shallow to my eyes. It’s barely any deeper than the hood on the 24-70 lens sitting next to it.

Slightly off topic, but does anybody know what is up with the Linstip review site? It appears to be offline for a few days already. I have been patiently waiting for the final reviews of the new compact Sigma lenses.

Does the size and shape of that hood on the mystery lens in the DPR video give us any indication? Petal or Tulip vs Round? Looking through the Sony lenses quickly:
FE GM 24, FE 28, FE 35's 1,4 and 1,8 and GM 24-70 = tulip hoods ( except the unusual but very cool FE 35 F2.8 hood)

Hmmm. If dpreview has had a copy for review purposes long enough for it to make its way into the video, that suggests that the release is imminent--like tomorrow, maybe, possibly?
Also, the lens does have a strong family resemblance to the 24/1.4 GM--so perhaps it has been designed to achieve similar optical characteristics. It appears a bit larger than the 24 GM to my eyes.

Lenstip.com is offline for me too. So is Optyczne.pl (parent site of Lenstip that is Polish only, it contains the same lens reviews though they appear often a day earlier than on Lensip, but it also contains camera reviews and more).
I have last accessed Optyczne.pl on 7th Jan according to my browser history - it was working well at that time.
Maybe they did maintenance over weekend, but usually for maintenance site operators put up a static page with notice, but this time there is no response on HTTP and HTTPS ports at all.

It’s the 35, look at the size, bigger than 24 and the hood is what you expect from 35mm. That 67mm filter as well, that narrows out a lot of GM’s. Nokishita has said that is the next lens, they’re never wrong, but they did get this right super early.

Bold move for Sony only have 2 rings, one is the aperture ring.....so that would make the other the zoom ring or the focus ring. I wonder which one they ditched......although I assume you are being facetious.

How is that complaining? One of the rumours concerning this lens was that it was supposed to be close to the size of 24GM, which to me from that photo seems not to be the case.

It only has one regular ring (can't be a Sony zoom) and an aperture ring which GM zooms don't have.
We started this thread with the following Nokishita's tweet:
"The next lens Sony will announce will be the FE 35mm F1.4 GM".
