Silver on black looks snazzy. Single coating option and retro combined with 8/7 is interesting. They talk up WO performance. Design looks modern Cosina layout.

It also creates the paradox of choice (https://www.ted.com/talks/barry_schwartz_the_paradox_of_choice?language=en). No matter which 50/40/35 you will pick, you will always be thinking about the other options you didn't pick (this is quite obvious already in various threads on this forum).
It's simple enough; they just want to drown the consumer in awesome products! If you only put high quality products out there that feel great to use then your target audience will eventually buy one or two of your $1000 USD products.

I've sold my CV 50/3.5 Heliar but sometimes regret it. Such light lens with very pleasant rendering and rich colors.
Never tried the CV 50/1.5 because I had the Zeiss 50/1.5C but perhaps will get the new version for review.
Juha, have you ever tried the 35/2.5 Color-Skopar? It's a very underrated lens imo. It's sharper than both 35mm Ultron lenses wide open and only the 35/1.7 matches it at f/2.5. It's that sharp and so tiny!
Rendering is pretty uniform across the field and actually better than the 35/2 Ultron's. (not as busy off-axis). The 35/1.7 has the better rendering though but it's also much bigger....Show more →
ZM 50 sonnar was the first fast standard M lens I got due to its small size and reasonable IQ.
Surprised to see this new CV lens seems even shorter. If the IQ is good I might grab one!
The size and shape looks fantastic, great match for a rangefinder especially. Hope the rendering has not suffered due to the compact design. I didn't like the old 1.5 ergonomics, but I found image quality indistinguishable from the Leica Summilux in side-by-side comparisons.
It looks similar to their new 35 F2 vintage. I wonder if this one has some focus knob at the bottom too.

Is there any indication if the new 50/1.5 will come in E-mount as well?
Nobody knows. We thought that the CV 75/1.5 Nokton would be ported to E-mount but it's been almost a year since the M-mount was announced.
The new 50/1.5 seems to follow a similar optical design concept to the 75/1.5, but with one extra element and no anomalous partial dispersion glass. Last element is a double sided aspherical for both lenses.
'By adopting a *double-sided* aspherical lens, it demonstrates excellent optical performance even when the aperture is wide open.'
Might be the reason for no APD glass, and they traded off the APD for an extra correcting element at the back. They really want to keep them small these days. The 75/1.5 is:
'By adopting a compact and high-performance aspherical lens, it demonstrates excellent optical performance even when the aperture is wide open.'
It will likely be very good, as 8/7 is a far cry from the 6/5 of the older lens (and the 6/4 for the triplet ZM 50/1.5). Sony's 55/1.8 is 7/5.
Looks are very different to the v1, which more resembles the 75/1.5. It had 52mm filters this one is 43mm. Tiny, looks like ZE CZ lenses a little.
Unless there is another older one, I am not so familiar with CV for M mount:
I don't feel so bad I sold my CV 50/3.5 Heliar now because the new 50/1.5 II is 6.3mm shorter and 11g lighter while being 2 stops faster! If it renders like the CV 75/1.5 Nokton, it could be a very successful lens.

Gotta say I’m experiencing mild temptation to get an A7c, have it Kolari ultra thin modified, and a small kit of smaller M lenses...including one of these.
The three variants are described as silver, black, and black nickel paint. Yet the product pictures show silver, black, and black with silver focus ring. Am I correct in assuming then that the pure black lens is the black nickel paint variant?

It should be a great camera for it.
One thing that's improved my satisfaction with my UT rIII so far as color response is the use of UV/IR cut filters on my lenses. I never would've tried it if I didn't add a full-spectrum camera, but now I just leave them on for both cameras. It's like having a stock sensor so far as WB is concerned- AWB and the programed WB are usable again, and setting a CWB is more accurate. They're not much more than a good UV filter, except for the UWAs, where you really need a hot-mirror filter (Schott BG40's good, Hoya CM 500's better). Kolari sells mounted filters, and, given the advertised curves, I'm betting they use BG40, but with any lens 24mm and up, the Leica/B+W are generally cheaper and work just as well.
