It's in Chinese/Cantonese. ISO 6400 (8:45 mark) and 12800 (8:57 mark) looks better/cleaner than the Sony A7R III and IV.

The R5 also looks the softest to me as if some sort of noise reduction was applied or missed focus. Hopefully it is at least as clean as my A7RIII as I was a bit disappointed when I moved to the A7RIV.

AF tracking the blackbirds eye in poor light @ 5:15 is very nice.

At 6:14 he's using the A7III. Holy crap! And to think there are people trying to compare the R5/6 to that kind of result?

Hey Pius, how would you describe the images @ 6:13 & 6:17?
Let us know what you really think, don't hold anything back.

Yes, the R5 looks soft in those comparisons. Could it be a sharpening issue? I don't know if these are raw files or jpgs. When I downloaded DP Review's 1Dx3 raw test shot, I thought it looked really soft compared to my 5D3 until I realized I hadn't applied my default LR preset which includes sharpening.

I would not trust those. We have seen plenty of good images. He sure beats his cameras up.

Not a review, but certainly not encouraging news.

aka a "nothing burger"

It's not even news, but an opinion or possible mistake. Because most folks who like to shoot video will learn how to use the gear and plan accordingly.

There are other ways to fail. For example, I could have shot my 5D mk iii all day taking photos, using up 98% of 4 batteries. Then all of a sudden, try to take video .. and nothing is left. That would be poor planning.

Yeah, it's a tweet and details are left out. Shooting casually? Shooting rapid-fire 12 or 20 fps to the CFexpress over and over?

I'm thinking if you left the camera in the sun for an hour even without taking a single shot, it might be too hot for 4K HQ. Just something to consider and adapt to like you say. For example, keep your gear in the A/C cabin of your vehicle and not in the trunk when it's hot outside if you plan to pull it out and shoot 4K HQ or 8K right away.

My only concern is say you're hiking with the camera or shooting in the sun all day on a hot day to the CFexpress, might we see a situation where it heats up enough to not allow stills. I don't think we will, but this news does raise an eyebrow for me – puts me in let's watch and see mode.

I got this from the B&H website under the video with Rudy.
Would be nice to know what lens was used, has to be an EF lens because of the coverage.

I am impressed by the C-AF/eye tracking performance and by the ability to lock focus in low light and dark subjects.

But so far I am not impressed by the sharpness. Maybe the lenses not the camera.

Nothing so far focus as close as the A9 from obseving photos in the sony forum and elsewhere in the net.

Seeing this tweet and all of the other info makes me think that Canon has set the temperature tolerance on these cameras to be absurdly low.

I have to agree, I watched that B&H video with Rudy and people were asking what the coverage was with ef lenses. I thought to myself they are in the biggest camera store in the world...
Stick the bloody EF lens on the R5 and show us on the LCD how many focus points and coverage we get... Instead they give us that finger measurement.... "you know this much"...

The A7III doesn't have Real-Time Tracking so no this shouldn't be compared. That is just Auto mode doing whatever it wants to. With the A9, A9II and A7RIV you could engage Real-Time Tracking on the head of the bird and it would do everything the R5 does except reduce the square to the eye. In the end you will get the shot whether a square draws around the eye or just tracks the head at least at those distances.

But once again this video shows that the algorithms are very smart for the bird eye-af...I continue to be amazed at how it finds the bird's eyes even as it drops into shadow. I'm itching to try it out but I know I'll drop $10K for the body and one lens and then the next day Sony will drop the Bird Eye-AF update for my two cameras and they will be neck and neck again. GAS must be tamed here

That can't be a mirrorless camera photo can it? It looks like a DSLR coverage photo. I don't think they would make a reduced coverage into that typical DSLR pattern of points. With the f/11 DO lenses they make it into a square.

I just had a look where that photo shows up in the transcript and I really think they just pulled out a random photo they had of an animal in the VF from a DSLR. Even the green display at the bottom is DSLR....now I need to go watch the video and see the hand gestures I guess

Do you know where about in the video they ask about the AF coverage for EF?
