p.1 #1 · Corona virus VS R5 production???

I've been "trying" my patience with Canon since Sony released their A7R2, for Canon to come up with a contender.

Now that the R5 presumes to become a reality, & fulfill that wish, can't help but wonder if it's production will be further delayed, & for how long?

My patience is about to "run out of gas"!

Further delayed? Who said production has been delayed? A contender? From the company that outsells the others? My 5D MK IV is one of the finest cameras I have ever used. I own an RP and it also excellent. Canon cameras have provided me with a good income and will continue to do so.
Breathe easy, I don’t think the hyped up virus will delay the hyped up camera.

If the worst problem you face due to coronavirus is that Canon delays manufacturing the R5 for a few months you should consider yourself lucky.

Is the R5 made in China? The Sony 200-600 is.

Japan is also a COVID-19 "hot spot".

A week ago a client of mine already couldn't get a popular "wall wart" power supply that's made in China. My dentist's supplier will only sell him 5 boxes of nitrile gloves per month now because they are unable to source them. And on it goes.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canon's camera production is delayed no matter where they are made. They can't build cameras if they're short of even one insignificant component, and lots of electronic components are made in China.

Canon is not closing their Japanese plants due to coronavirus in Japan according to their statement.

They are closing due to a shortage of components coming from China.

Tho one might speculate the scheduled shutdown of 2 weeks just happens to be the right amount of time to identify and isolate all workers that could be infected.

Anyway, COVID-19 sucks, hopefully it will not drag on forever.

I can't worry about cameras when I'm concerned for anyone in the high risk category especially my elderly family members and friends.

And on a lighter note . . .

I heard thru the grapevine that toilet paper has run out in my area which in turn has triggered an outright panic amongst the leafy greenery in my backyard!

Our kids live in Melbourne Australia, and their local stores are also out of TP. What a world.

You are so right regarding the components. It's the weakest link in the chain scenario...just takes one component to be delayed to delay the entire camera...and many components are made in China.

Oh dear god NO! I can live without an R5 but the thought of no toilet paper is NOT something to joke about.
So many things I could add to this but I'll refrain.

This reminds of what it's like here in the south when they predict a dusting of snow.
Before the first snow flake falls, they close the schools and there is a run on milk and bread such that all the stores are picked clean in a matter of hours.

I'm calling my wife now to ask her to pick up a few hundred rolls of paper product. It's winter time here and there are no fresh leaves available.

Stop worrying about things you can't control, life is better that way.

Also, invest in a $25 home bidet and never worry about TP shortages again!

I know the Canon forum isn't what it used to be, but I think we've found a new low. We're now discussing popular methods for washing heinies. I'm out, fellas.

(Also, gonna need links to find a deal for $25 bidet. Can't pass that up.)

Look, don't judge me. I went viral when I made this video on a dare years ago (so viral that it ended up on Gawker and the Tonight Show). Link to the bidet in question is in the video description. Also if it's not obvious from the vid, I can't recommend settings 4 and 5

(posting this video is ensuring we're hitting and securing that new low)

I was about to ask for more info on the bidet. My brother has one that attaches to his toilet and he loves the damn thing. It has piqued my interest ever since.

It's very unsettling the first time you use it, mostly because the water is quite cold. I don't really buy into the idea of getting one that warms the water, given how long I have to let my bathroom tap run full blast on hot until warm water starts to come out.

You'll be shocked at how much better the bidet is at getting the job done, though, and then you'll want to put one in your office's bathroom

Using one wad of TP (simply to dry off) vs multiple adds up!

...Not to mention preventing a world wide toilet paper shortage the next time a new virus surfaces. After all, there are over 400 different corona viruses cataloged already.

Really while other parts of the world are worrying how to get over with the virus

Be realistic, there are things beyond your control and this is one of them.

It's measured in GPM now.

I guess one could say that this thread has gone down the toilet.
