I took my 1DX3/600iii out for the second time today. I intended to shoot at a seed pile at a local park for a while at sunup and then go shoot some more gulls... but our newborn at home with my wife had other plans and I was only able to shoot at the seed pile. I shot about 50/50 with the OVF and the live view. I just received the Hoodman Loupe this evening and intend to try it out. It seems pretty promising so far playing around with it at home.
Two things to note/question--with the 600iii, the issues with slower shutter speeds as chronicled in my long post about the 5DIV/600iii IS issues are present with the 1DX3 as well when shooting through the OVF. I essentially cannot get a sharp shot through the OVF with IS on at 1/160. Secondly, when shooting in live view, electronic shutter, with IS on, I occasionally feel like I'm getting a bit of a jump with the IS. Basically every time the camera takes a shot it's as if the IS has to move and I feel a very small vibration coming from it. Interestingly when I tried my 600iii on my SONY A9 with the Sigma MC-11 adaptor, I got a very severe "jerking" of the IS when trying to pan.
The 1DX3 and 600iii play very well together with teleconverters. The 1.4Xiii seems to have little to no effect on AF or IQ. With the 2Xiii attached, focus does slow down and image quality is taken down ever so slightly, particularly at f/8 in poor light, but I found today that stopped down to f/10 with good light, the combo was extremely sharp and responsive. The camera seemed to drive the 600/2X combo a lot faster in the OVF mode than the live view mode.

I wish I had a bit more room at the top to give the bird some more space. No more space to bring back unfortunately.
