Perhaps RawTherapee or ART work.

make a DNG ?
Less then 2 weeks before the first delivery and we cannot / are not allowed to see the RAW yet!
Isn't that strange? Why would that be? Why the secrecy?

Adobe still has to update DNG converter for the 1DXIII. They often do that earlier than updating ACR and LR.
Canon usually doesn't have the updated DPP out until right at release. Adobe is all over the map and could be a few months after release or before release depending on what other updates they are wanting to push for ACR/LR. Same for the other software like C1 etc. C1 sometimes is out before LR, sometimes after.
There is no secrecy as pre-release DPP was already given out to some people (including Jason on here) to edit RAWs.
As for the AF case settings (tracking sensitivity/AF point switching etc) are there different menus/settings when shooting/focusing through the viewfinder and/or via back LCD? or does one setting apply to both?
For example, can you adjust tracking sensitivity for OVF separately from "live view" mode?
Since this camera has two different AF systems, one may be more sensitive than the other...

It does retain different settings in the cases for each OVF or live view. I have not checked the custom modes but I am sure it does.

A couple things I'd like to know more about if you have time:
1) With the AF-On smart controller....if you are using a single point or expansion when you go to actually activate AF-ON is there a tendency for the point to move a few spaces just from whatever minor sideways movement your thumb makes when pushing in the button? Did you play with the sensitivity settings for this button?
I have used it a bit more and the sensitivity works really good. You can adjust it to taste. Works great with gloves on. The point does not move at all until activated. You can activate it by the shutter or the AF button. Once activated it moves super easy but if you push the AF button all the way in it does not move unless you move your thumb. That works really good. Also I thought I may have to turn off the one on the grip for vertical shooting, but my palm or anything has moved it yet. There is a setting to turn that on off also.

nothing to do with DPP or otherwise.
I also tried to get a copy from CPS and no go. I even have to download to my iPad then my Mac. The Canon Utility does not work, it is a known issue but it is not fixed yet. Pain in the butt.
Rob, since you cannot test the tracking capabilities due the weather, how is the 1DXIII performing with acquiring initial focus in low light conditions? Especially with 2x teleconvert attached.
Compared to 1DXII, is it a "lot better" or just a "touch" better?
How about AF acquisition in Live View? Is it faster/slower than via OVF?
I wonder, with all those questions fired, why not arrange a loaner yourself and find out. Most of the 'better or worse' findings are subjective. Even tracking results of the camera could differ from person to person. I mean, with a 7k camera i wouldn't rely on one person's findings.
Besides, I thought this thread was named 'Official 1dx Mark III picture thread' I'm here for the pictures... Bring it on.

I can't get a loaner prior to my camera hopefully being delivered Feb 14. Just curious and excited as I suspect a lot of 1D enthusiasts are.

Agreed, however there are a lot of people genuinely interested to hear what this rig can do and are itchy to hear real world reports. Can't blame folks for getting excited I guess. But ultimately, anyone that is seriously considering this camera will need to rent or get a loaner to test it out themself for the reasons you pointed out.
I'm just a bottom feeder that will probably never be able to justify such a marvelous piece of engineering but I'm excited for all those lucky folks that will be picking one up.
We don't have long to wait for the reports to start rolling in. I'm grateful for anything Rob and others can take the time to share with us.

Sure, i like to read about anyones experience with the camera as well. But again, it's an image thread. I would suggest starting a 1dxIII Q&A thread or using any of the existing 1dxIII threads for all your questions.

Once again Canon Forum regulars shine at its best... Complaining
Rob "brought" us here to this 'Official 1dx Mark III picture thread' from another thread where he didn't respond to any questions just posted a link to this post ( https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1629321/10#15128908 ) I assume, this is the reason why everyone started asking questions here, not there. If you want to see just photos, get ready for another few days/weeks of silence here...
I'm looking forward to someone opening a new thread that is willing to answers questions regarding this camera.
I will see you there...

As of now I feel it sticks better, when using the 1dx Mark II on static shots it could wonder off a bit in Servo. A lot better is subjective. I do feel it is better, I have only used it is crap light and it seems to lock on without issue with the 2x. Hopefully either tomorrow or Monday I hope to get some flight.

Thanks Rob. Sounds like they really made a great new innovative UI improvement. I hope they don't restrict it to only the 1DXIII and let some of the new MILCs have it also.
