Well, one day I picked it up and it had the most annoying hair that had worked it's way into the rangefinder optics...right in the middle of the damn patch. The day before, no hair. I treat my equipment kindly, so this was a bit of a head scratcher.
At any rate, a repair guy was kind enough to pay a house call (he lives close to where I work) to get the hair our (which required taking the top plate off). In the process of putting the camera back together and doing a systems check, they wound the shutter and heard a snap. The end post that functions as the stop for the advance lever broke off. It was a totally random, freak occurrence. Unfortunately, that part doesn't exist anymore (unless you have a parts body). So, the camera has been with him for the last month while he fashions an new end post.
The thing about the Elcan… because the aperture ring moves in the opposite direction of pretty much every other Leica lens, if you are using an M6, MP (or M7 in manual mode), the exposure arrows in the VF are now backwards.
You have to move the aperture ring the opposite direction of what they indicate.
Yes, specific versions still in play at PopFlash and LLL (though prices have recently increased again), but I had to go to eBay-shotenkobo yesterday for chrome M-mount.
Supposedly LLL will make the Speed Pancro in other lens mounts, not just Leica M. From this statement (excerpt from larger comment) by Mr Zhou:
The Light Lens Lab 50mm f/2 S2 is slightly bigger than the usual 50mm f/2 made by other manufacturers, but the size is ergonomic and the weight appropriate for any film or digital M camera. It will also be available in five different versions for other still and movie cameras.
I just got the email for the 50 1.2 1966 replika. Pre-order for $420 deposit All pre-orders already sold out. Actual price between $2100 - $2500 depending on finish/metal
Is anyone planning to get the black SPII? If I didn't already love the Leica 50/2 Rigid, I would consider getting one based on the prototype samples shared here.

The images from the production lens being shared in the thread on Leica Forum look nothing like the prototype images, at least not wide open. Wide open shots from the production lens have much more character and glow.

I was excited about getting a black SPII, until I saw production samples (taken with the optically identical silver ones) posted by those who received them. I found those images, well, underwhelming and so will hold off on getting an SPII until I see a lot more usage in the real world with it.
All those first look promotional videos featured a prototype(s?) lens that, at least from what I have seen, has not optically translated into the production copies.
