Well, the upside is that Sony now covers all your needs, and what better way to shoot than one system only?
The downside, if you want to sell the 400DOII, that Canon big whites have lost a lot of value. I wrestled with that issue myself after getting the Nikon 500PF, and really wanting one system only myself. But to my surprise, having read so many good things about the Nikon combo, the Canon 400DOII remains my favorite lens by a good margin, even on the "long overdue for replacement" 7DII, and I intend to keep it for the rest of my birding life. So I am apparently not done with Canon yet and hence my future is a R5, R7 or a Sony A7RIV.
Chris to get to one system will take the grave ha! I pre-ordered an X-T4 a couple of weeks ago
And shot with the Z50+1.4TC+300PF today and really love that combo. You know it won't be long before
even the FE200600 is too heavy for me Oh, I shot with a GM-5 a couple of days ago hehe, and got
a super super rare visitor here.....the camera you have with you right! Here it is if bored- https://www.flickr.com/photos/medicineman4040/49670631661/in/dateposted/
Indeed Douglas! I’ve been prepping for a market crash since last spring (never anticipated a pandemic though ) and can’t wait to pounce on the opportunity once the market finds its bottom. Till then I’m not buying anything except beans, rice, and clorox wipes.

Lovely photos.
Thanks David! Don't forget the toilet paper! . Stay safe!
I realized I hadn't been outside all week, so after shutting down my work computer at 3 sharp, I poured a bourbon and went out back to get some fresh spring air. Smokey appeared like magic out of the tall grass and joined me on the patio for a stretch and roll. A nice way to end a nutty week.

How is the performance of 200-600 with 1.4 TC on A7rIV? Is it better to use TC or APS-C mode / crop in post?
Discussed in several past threads.
Kinda of personal decision to APS-C in camera or in post.
But if you go crop mode while shooting your Riv buffer becomes way way bigger.
Personally I prefer crop mode versus more glass in the light's pathway.

It is amazing how much you can crop with the A7riv and still have a big file compared to the A9. Also the IQ and detail is wonderful.
