On our Alaska/Yukon trip it was almost like Geoff was with us. He told me so many places to go. Always thankful Geoff.
I was working a bear in the middle of the river and suddenly to the left this guy waltzes around the corner...way close but you can't run, so what to do? Keep shooting

Looking out from near the top of the Preserve.
Tripod mounted FE 200-600mm f5.6-6.3 G set to 600mm and A7rIII, silent shutter.
ISO 400, f13, 1/15 second.
Exposure corrected +0.24 stops.

cross post from the big A7xx thread. Shot with A7RIV and 200-600+1.4xTC, big crop as well. I also shot a sequence of another eagle catching fish and flew towards my direction, great angle at eye level, unfortunately most of the shots the focus was on the wings, not the head. I think I was using zone tracking, the SS was 1/2000, maybe 1/2500 would have been better.

A few more shorties....
For those interested, these shortie shots are from Boundary Bay, Vancouver BC near 72st parking. The interesting thing about this location is you are shooting from a large trail on the dyke. On one side is a golf course and the other towards the ocean is the natural habitat....I'm guessing you can probably tell which side of the dyke each of these and the previous four shots were taken on
At one point I watched one owl just sit on a small dune above a mid fairway sand trap and the owl watched a pair of golfers make their way down the fairway, hitting their 2nd shots right in front of him. The owl didn't even move...so I almost had the urge to go pay the green fee and grab a cart just to get better shots....of course the pro shop might have wondered where my clubs were

I so wish there'd be an open minded photographer in my area like you; here people are usually quite secretive about the truly good locations for wildlife photography. At least, I try take it as an inspiration for hiking.
