I saw Black Skimmers for the first time this week. They're almost comical until you see those beaks from the front; they instantly taper down to almost razer-like proportions. Very skilled preeners.

Thank you very much, Nelson! It does track really well and the combo of this lens with the A1 does the job for me. What I Ike about this lens is, you can find the target easier by zooming out and as soon as the camera finds the target you can zoom in all the way or to whatever focal length you need. The short zoom throw is really great for that. You can do that with ease with a short wrist action while tracking.

Some shots from this morning. The pileated woodpecker image might have been a lot sharper if I had noticed how low the shutter speed had fallen and increased the ISO...

All the pictures in this thread are just stunning. Pretty incredible what you can do with a lens at this price point.
Recently reacquired this lens and set up a feeder outside a window and shot through the dirty window (inspired by @Joe Colson).
I have zero experience shooting birds, and there aren’t very exotic ones in my back yard but it is still fun to shoot. Hoping to get some shots of all the locals.
